17kg - blimey !! What on earth have you got fitted to your car. The standard one is only about 3kg.
And if you're removing it just because it's ugly - give it a polish.
From barnacle to bling . . .
That is for the complete removal of the system.. The pump definitely weighs more than 3kg mind. And if you're removing it just because it's ugly - give it a polish.

Why take it out? If it isn't working, the clutch wont be engaged so won't be using power. Weight must be minimal
It's about 17kg, so not insignificant.I weigh 10 stone - maybe you should all get smaller drivers, or diet
plus as said - you can always polish it. I did mine when the engine was apart
Each to their own. My original invoice said it was a £1595.74 option (plus vat)

Swap the seats out, fit some lighter wheels and you could be 75kg down with very little work. Improved ride/handling/going/stopping..

5bhp/tonne for free and best part of 20kg off the nose.. I guess if you just pop to the shops or pootle to the pub on a Sunday you wouldn't notice. For the sake of something that might have been broken as reason for removal.

Seats I'll definitely go with as heavy, in fact Bloody heavy when I took them out, but then they are so comfy (the early ones)Swap the seats out, fit some lighter wheels and you could be 75kg down with very little work. Improved ride/handling/going/stopping..

Interesting statement. Mine's almost completely apart and I can tell you that, for a 2001 4.5Compressor = 5.8
Evaporator = Can't get to so no idea
Condenser, Receiver Dryer, Fuel Cooler & Pipes = 6.7
(all Dry)
Much easier (and lighter) to take the Passenger Seat out !
