cerbs are no faster to 120 than a good 300 brake griff its only past 120 that the cerb goes past and thats 0nly with 360 brake and over and there is nt many standard 4.5 cerbs with more than 360 brake
Rubbish.Eta: didn't mean to come across badly, just don't agree tbh, however I'm lucky enough to have a decent example

in the real world they dont get to sixty in 4 seconds plus as i said in my post healthy standard 4.5 cerbs only make 350 brake also ajp engines make less torque tan rv8s so upto 120 approx cerbs struggle to get past good griffs and i should know as i have had many road races with many other tvrs
So a healthy standard 4.5 will produce what power and Torque.
My RV8 4.6 fairly standard engine produces around
300bhp so you'll gain at the top end on the RV8
350ft lbs torque though and that matches the speed 6 and AJP8 engine so in the real world not a great deal of difference and the Griff/Chim is lighter,
I'm happy to be corrected re torque figures if I've mis read that
I've had a Cerb try and accelerate away from lights and I was stuck to his bumper, ( much to my surprise) the same with a number of speed 6 cars incl a Tuscan, very little in it.
Get the Cerb going and I think it will leave the Rv8 engine cars easily enough but that's got to be way past 100 mph before that's happening.
I've done the quarter mile drag run and managed 13.1 seconds, 108mph in 440 yards,, and I had a naff start!
Do we have any standard 4.5 Cerb times we can compare?

Have you got a crack bong on the go. There's plenty of 4.5 Cerberas doing around or over 400bhp. Plus if you think a cerbera isn't getting to 60 in 4 seconds your going to dissapointed in your old rover car when someone pulls a stop watch out. Getting away from the figure analysers, who has the bigger willy, what is normal and what is not for these cars. I personally honestly don't care if your car is 0.2 seconds quicker. Plus all cars are different. There is no standard. That's the joy and pain of these cars.
For me and my personal preference it's the theatre, the experience, the grim factor and most important of all my personal feel and link with my car. Im lucky enough to own a healthy 4.2 Cerbera which has 350bhp according to Joolz rolling road and I would not swap it for a Griff. If I could afford I would have both but I cannot.
My advice is that only you can decide. Try them both, try a T car, don't rule out the Chimeara. Only once you have tried them all will you be able to determine where YOUR preference lies

Evening chaps,
What have I started?
The 500 I drove "seemed" to be optimised for midrange and felt a bit flat - remember I've been used to a 430hp / 560Nm (410lbs ft) turbocharged RS4 which pulls hard up to the redline at 7000 something.
Perhaps the flat torque curve was deceiving.
Maybe I need to try one with a wilder cam - stealth?
As to what's faster - Cerbera / Chim / Griff I'm not at all interested in quarter mile times - that so depends on the launch and the mechanical sympathy (or lack of) of the driver. Same for 0-60.
I was looking for speeds for Cerberas on Vmax200 but could find very few. One at 174mph and another at low 160s. FWIW my RS4 went through the traps at 167mph.
The runway at Bruntingthorpe is a great leveller and a measure of power and aerodynamics.
I need to research a lot more - where can I find reliable (or published claims) for power / performance etc for Cerberas.
Cheers All.
Play nicely!
