yes the black ones can be used on the 4.5 in fact this is what i was trying to source from germany as it's a ford sierra part from the 90s but have had no luck. The german company wanted everything including my inside leg measurement but I have one leg shorter than the other and their super efficient computer system couldnt cope with that. (this is after giving them the reg number, vin number, engine size, car make and model, year of manufacture and they still couldnt match it up). I gave up.

PS if anyone does manage to find a source for4.5 pots can they please tell the supplier to keep it on the open market, what we don't want is a tvr parts company wading in, buying all their stock, and hiking the prices up because they've then cornered the market!

I got a reply from P&G re the electroic throttle pots. They can supply them but need some numbers that I can't get as I don't have an MBE on my car.

I need someone with a meter and a bit of electrical nouse to check some reading for me.

I need the overall resistance end to end of the throttle pots (outer pins). The resistance from wiper(centre pin) to 0v (whichever outer pin is the lower resistance) at idle and the resistance at wiper to 0v at full throttle. A resistance at mid throttle would be useful too as a check on the linearity of the scale.

I know the figures will be similar on mine but I want to be exact as I tweaked the position of mine a bit so they are not representative of a standard setup which is running well on the MBE.

It would also be useful to know the exact voltage between the outer pins on the loom connector. I'm assuming it's 5V but assumptions are dangerous and if it's 4.8 or 5.2 that is a big difference.

These are my findings:

Readings were taken with the blue part facing down (as per photo), meter has never been calibrated.

Motor parts world, the same people who last week said they had an alternative part then didn't

I am not hopeful my blue ones will turn up.

As suspected the stock does not exist so a refund is on its way.

Why advertise stuff you don't have FFS,

I have tried with motor trade contacts of mine including parts suppliers and people that specialise in old Fords.
So far, no one has any blue/black ones in stock and there appear to be none anywhere in the UK as far as their systems show.
White ones are no problem as they were fitted to later MG Rovers and are still readily available.
Not heard back from everyone yet so this is a WIP.

Here's another option, must be worth giving them a call at least

https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/search?keyword=40200...

Interestingly the Vemo, Metzger and Magneti Marelli are all showing 3-5 days, but the Pierburg is showing 24hrs, so perhaps the Pierburg really is in stock.

Still scary prices though.

As far as standard UK 'aftermarket' sensor companies are concerned:
Intermotor.... part obsolete, NLA
CI (Commercial Ignition) ...company no longer exists
Fuel Parts ...bought by Intermotor ...see above

Confirmed as NLA from FoMoCo but the relevant 'finis' number (which is what Ford use instead of the part number 88WF 9B989 CA) in case anyone still has stock is 6854779
Google brings up lots of results....

That was the bunch that called me back after I ordered some of the cheaper versions, they did a check to see if the had any that were comparable at any price and they all came back as out of stock and discontinued.

What happens if I just disconnect the dodgy TP, will the car just revert to using the good TP for both banks?
