Insurance Warning

Just wondering how some of you folks manage to get great quotes for your cars. I've been doing the rounds today as my renewal is due and had a few shocks.
I thought I'd get quotes for the TVR I want (4.2 Cerbera) as I know what my current insurer will do.

Bell Direct - 1434
Norwich Union - 1540 (current car, TTR was even more!!!)
Tesco - 1100 (seen the comments above)
Peart - 1130 (90 days EU)
AQuote - 2334!!!!!

Any suggestions for getting it down.

I'm 28, North Leeds Postcode, Garaged, 8000 miles, Full no claims, social only.
