After Market Warranties
Discussion
I've the Warranty Holdings policy good, claimed for everthing in the past couple of years. The dealer seemed to have a way of getting anything thru' and fix up the mileage ion the form to whatever is required.
Maybe that's why Team Central have now gone bust- their service was too good.
SHock horror, I have a Warranty Holdings warranty and I am having to pay towards the labour costs of repair because I have insisted on taking my car to a TVR dealer instead of the WHA approved garages (i.e. non TVR dealers) or the original dealer who sold the car (also a non TVR dealer). So make sure you get your warranty from a TVR dealer.
Just had to fork out £1000-odd for my 4.5... £320 for some front shocks + £ 156 labour... Any possibility to say shocks shouldn't go after 16000 miles and thus this is a warranty job? I think not, but maybe someone has other experiences...
Also, one bank of valves had closed up - they were last adjusted some 8000 miles ago (I got the 12000 service at 8000), and "it shouldn't do that, sir"... but still £280 for adjusting. If it does it again, it's an engine-out & back to the factory job, hopefully under warranty - but why can't this adjustment be under warranty then?
Damned, this thing is expensive... and all this just 3 months after a £800 service... Time to get into the car and remind myself why it is worth it...
they are probably only agreeing to replace parts which are broken, not worn. This can be difficult unless you can get a friendly dealer to break a worn part! Once on a 911 I had, they wanted to fit a recon part and I basically told them to f**k off and that I wanted a new one. They gave in eventually. You can negotiate with them but its not easy.
