3,000 miles in 4 days...
Discussion
Great thread! Thanks! The Mrs and I are planning a three week 3,000+ mile trip down to the South of France and into Italy this summer. Will probably max at 600 miles in any one day. 4.0 Chimaera so hopefully less electrical gremlins, although the speedometer has stopped working today... that could make the trip interesting!
I'll report back with some pics this summer!

Yea I know it's a great road, my tyres wouldn't take it together with the 5,000 odd bends I had to negotiate on the way home, let's just say they now need replacing. I did try to buy tyres when I was out there but the place I visited could only get firestones and even then only after I'd returned home!
I've just read this thread (with Mrs B. looking over my shoulder) after seeing the journey you had planned and saying to Mrs B "Hey, there is a guy here doing the same trip as we did 2 years ago only he's doing it each way in a day less than we did"
She said what I was thinking - "He's mental" !!
Anyway, well done to both you and the car. I'm glad to see it reminded you who was boss on the return leg when it withheld the services of both indicator and wipers. They do it every now and again just to reinforce they own you, not the other way around.
I can't believe you got just a single 45euro fine either. I was pulled after roadworks in Spain and found myself lighter to the tune of 200euro.
Can you email me with the details of the tracker you have. I love the google maps images showing where your car was and the low battery warning. So its now on my wish list for the Griff.
Again, well done, and a great (if a little short) blog of your adventure.

Thanks for the compliment. The tracker is a SamTrac, can't remember who fitted them but can look them up. PM me later and I'll get back to you. I didn't use it for the pics, they are just iPhone maps screen snaps (press the power button and home key together, in that order).
I didn't document the return trip as I had run out of roaming allowance
The car's going great now, must have cleaned the injectors I assume...

Great to hear you and Cerb made it back without major trauma or recovery assistance!!
What a great trip - and a great blog too!!!!
I'm a techno-numpty - but loved the screen shots. If you could be arsed would be good to know how you uploaded the shots, and the photos from the i-phone (did you have to use website like TinyPic as intermediate step??) that would be appreciated!
Sorry late reply - just returned from couple of weeks hols in Javea - and kept mentioning to SWMBO "what about if you flew here next year and I brought the Cerb down....???????" Funnily enough, she failed to see the heroic drive aspects of the trip, and instead berated me about how difficult it would be to look after two young kids in getting to airport, flight, hire car etc etc etc.....
.... ah well - I'll just keep on planning Le Mans 24 hours 2013 instead!!! Not quite the same distance, but firmly in the plan (with pass stamped to do this by SWMBO)
