The old Wheel debate. What you running these days ??
Discussion
Hi Folks,
I am still toying with changing my wheels and feel its something I need to do with a small flat spot found on one of them. My only problem is that however much I like the Spider wheels I read lots about them being weak and the roads here are far from good! But I have an ever bigger issue in that my PCD for what ever reason is 5x112. This is a VAG / Audi pattern and different to what most of you probably have.
So I am interested to see what wheels people are running now, other than spiders. I see older posts and have taken these into consideration, but over the last few years styles have changed so maybe your wheels have to?
I want to keep to 18" dia also.
So what styles you got??
Cheers
Dave

I have a hankering for some Advan RS-D (see google images)
They are curvy spoked a bit like spiders but 10 spoke and no doubt a lot lighter.
Does anyone know the ideal offset for the cerb, front and rear? I know what the spiders are but wondered what the proper setup is?
FP, They look very nice! - but pricey! I am a sucker for anything deep dished. They are curvy spoked a bit like spiders but 10 spoke and no doubt a lot lighter.

Earlier Cerbs were a 41 or 42 offset all round (My RLs have ET41 marked on them, but spiders were ET42). Advans in an ET45 with a 3mm spacer will go on, but you will need longer studs though as there won't be enough thread when you fit the spacers.
Thanks. So the spider fronts (ET42) are the right offset. For some reason I thought they weren't and that the SP12 wheels were superior in that regard. I can fit 33s on the back of mine without arch problems, perhaps I should go for 35R and 45F (or 42 with spacers)Alistair H. said:

Cheers, yes they are $$$. They do different depths of dish, could have deeper on the back like this looks to have done:For those who prefer no dish, there's the RS:
Quite spider-like
PS borrowed images, hope the owners don't mind..
I like them RS ones in the picture. A lot like a wheel I was considering here and available. I just have to keep in mind that I need 112PCD wheels so am more limited in choice. My current wheels ate 8x18 with a ET35, so I was just looking to get the same. Perhaps I should visit a wheel supplier and see what will and wont fit on mine.
I am still a big fan of Compomotive MO.

5 x 112 pcd on an early Cerb makes me think you have Tuscan Challenge hubs - Same as Ford Granada Scorpio (and TVR wedges,i think).
That's pretty rare i would have thought ?? and i'd be interested as to why it possibly had components from race dept fitted .
I'd be hunting down some 18 " Tuscan race wheels, specifically a set of TVR O.Z Pegasus split rims - on a Cerbera they would look stunning.

Interesting. I did always wonder why the hubs on my car were so different to everyone else's? I wonder what wheels were on the car when it left the factory then?
A local fella races in the GT series in a Tuscan, so maybe he has some spare wheels laid about I could try. Got me thinking now!

Good to see I am not alone on the pcd front. I did think about using adaptor plates once I found they were actually available. Its an option if I get stuck.
Rota wheels are available down here so I will look into that option also. I like the look of the rear offset on your car, but the front looks a little flat maybe for my taste? Still really suit the car though. I especially like the roof job!
I found a dealer down in Auckalnd that do lots of different wheels for the VAG and Merc crowd. They also have a try before you buy service where they fit the wheels to the car to see how they look and sit. Also a P/X on old rims which is handy. Looks like a road trip is on the cards.
