I bought a new battery base from clevor trevor for about £10. think it was closer to £15 when they had finished. I can take some pics later as i've modified (bent) mine slightly to secure a smaller optima red top.
I went low tech and used an appropriate spacer made from a block of wood.hear is the racing green battery tray after installation. It has 2 holes which you bolt through into the passenger foot well and a nut welded onto it so you can bolt the angle bracket bit onto it. My low tech solution was to bend the angle bracket to 45 degrees to give it that bit of extra to reach the redtop battery. Seems to work well.
Edited to say that all the white silicone is to make extra sure that no water ingress occurs to the footwell.
