Looking to join the Cerbera fun house soon.
Currently have a Chimaera that hardly gets used, and since our child has come along. It has not been out of the garage.
I am going to spend some time on it over this winter tidying up the chassis and wheels etc... Hopefully in the spring it should be priced in the Mid - High end.
Hopefully this will buy me in to entry level Cerb ownership.
I don't mind doing some work on the car to bring it up standard, but engine work does scare me a little. Should i be looking for a speed 6 or an AJP ?
Can you get a baby seat in the rear?
How much longer / wider is the Chim compared to the Cerb? (Garage space)

Width is the same but the cerb is 220mm longer in round numbers. The problem is the Cerbera doors are huge and getting them open wide enough to get out can be a challenge especially for people shaped as my username implies. You need to carpet the garage walls if it's borderline too narrow. Luckily mine lives in the barn so it's not a problem at all.
Getting in the back - depends on how far and how big you are. Being a shorty, my drivers seat is all the way forward. I have squashed four adults in mine for a 10 mile journey. I won't say it was comfortable for the back two, but they did fit, sort of.
Good for kids up to about 10-11 depending on size, bearing in mind the law says appropriate child restraint until 135cm tall or 12 years old. The seats are small and depending on the size of child, you might not need a booster, its about where the seat belt goes. When the cild gets older, someone did once mention putting dense foam over the rear seat belt mount as it was near head height?
Booster seats, front facing seats do fit in, I've fitted a rear facing seat in mine ok, and moved the passenger seat back to wedge it in.
There are a few seats that were designed to fit.

The Tasmin came as a 2+2 as well.
The cerbera is really a 3+1 as with passenger seat fully forward the rear passenger has reasonable amount of leg room. Behind the driver though is very restricted and is only suitable for a 4 yr old. Unless the driver has very short legs but even then space is limited.

I used the Cerbera as a family car and it was fine for the kids in the back. The son was about 11/12 and daughter about 14/15 when I sold it. I'm 6ft, with a skinny son behind and the daughter and wife occupied the passenger side, roughly equal height but it didn't look cramped at all.The cerbera is really a 3+1 as with passenger seat fully forward the rear passenger has reasonable amount of leg room. Just to add to this, I believe early cars have more room in the back than the later cars (although Indin't know why) My 8/9 year olds fit comfortably (and will do for some time) and can comfortably get a third adult in the seat behind the passenger. I made booster seats the same depth as the back seats by chopping about 4 inches off the back of some compact ones I had hanging around from when I had an xkr and making them "solid" by putting a block of wood inside, thus making my comment that "it's a sensible family car with four seats and a big boot" a reality...
