Anybody else had interest from Denmark re: selling the Cerb?
Discussion
I replied to an email just recently from a Guy in Denmark claiming to be a used car dealer. First name 'Jonatan'.
It seemed genuine at first, but now he has come back with a story about a shipping agent that will come along to collect the car once his cheque has cleared, so it appears he is looking to buy the car without actually seeing it?!
He obviously has some photo's, but its just struck a suspicious chord. Really unsure whether to bother replying again, just wondered if anyone else who is selling had had an email from the same guy, which would make sense if he is a used car dealer looking at Cerbera's at the moment.
email me if you want more details....

There seems to be a few of these around at the moment.
Sound's like you can expect a cheque from the National bank of Nigeria any time soon
Just ask yourself if anyone you know has ever sold a car to be shipped abroad, without the buyer seeing / driving it.
You know the answer

The more this game goes on the more i just want to keep the bloomin car. Its depressing.
The price drops have meant they are Mondeo money now anyway....
True, I'd be lucky to get £13k for mine with the plate. I reckon I've spent that on it over the last few months.
There's another thread somewhere where the seller was struggling to afford to run the car & someone suggested mothballing it, which I thought was quite a good idea.
I know if I sell it & someone comes shooting past me in a Cerb, I'll never forgive myself

I got one of them. Didn't even reply to it as the advert was asking for photo's and telephone numbers to "verify" my advert. It had scam wrote all over it, however, I did recieve a phone call from a German who is keen to buy. I think he's genuine, so I wouldn't dismiss someone called Alex Hoff if he tries to give you a ring. He reckoned that there are quite a few european enthusiasts wanting to buy.

I got the same email from the same guy....... Jonatan Sigvard.
I sent an email back saying, "I'm not interested in selling to any overseas buyers unless they come to me and place cold hard cash in my hand."
Had one from France too, which was really obviously a scam so i ignored it completely.
Bud
The conclusion i came too - leave well alone.
I may well just put the car away for a while, then at least i have it to go back too.
Motorbike will have to go on hold for a while
There is no way its going for peanuts, i enjoy it too much. I am of the same opinion as Russell, if one blasts past me i will feel pig sick....

These are scams... almost certainly.
The best advise has already been imparted:
1) Do not take a bankers draft or any other form of payment from a foreign buyer - cold hard currency only (pounds) and check its real stuff
2) Would you be a genuine buyer and purchase something for £15K without seeing/driving it first?
3) If they appear to be a genuine buyer and present you with a bankers draft, before handing over the keys do everything you can to prove its genuine; ring the bank that issued it is a good start - or visit the bank with the buyer and get their ID confirmed - if they are a genuine buyer, they should be glad to prove themselves.
Cheers

I have a friend who is a vintage and pre war car dealer who does have a great deal of success with overseas sales of cars to Germany, France and Denmark where such cars are less plentiful and excessively priced but I cannot racall a single occassion when the intended purchaser has not travelled to see the car or not sent a representative for the same purpose.

I had did not see my car until the guy came over and we made a deal. Rob Ingleby checked a couple of cars out for me adn it worked out. Having said that, the guy who I went through with on the deal with my t5 had been offered the nigerian bank transfer scam. Yes ther are people like me out there who are serious about getting a uk car, just do your homework.
