Inertia Cutoff Switch

Is anyone still about?

I need to try and find the inertia cutoff switch in my '96 4.2 Cerbie. I think it may have tripped.

That's what I hope it is anyway - the other options are not as appealing.

The starter motor turns the engine nicely, but it doesn't fire at all, independant of how much you squeeze the throttle!!

Your help would be much appreciated!!

The manual - that's what I thought. It says "Go to your dealer" basically, which is the very thing that you cannot do, since your car doesn't start.

Furthermore who wants to pay to have their car towed many miles to a dealer for them to press a button somewhere on the ECU/Ignition control box in the boot to bring the car back to life?

Thanks for your help guys - the Inertia switch for future reference is right in the middle of the boot on my car, behind the carpet, and above the fuel tank. It looks like an electrical connector, until you realise that the top part isn't connected to anything.

Pressing the button on the top took me from 0-360bhp in fractions of a second, and saved the need to call the AA/Dealer/Joolz.

Thanks for all your help and advice - I am now relieved that nothing was wrong with the car, except the obvious and blatant lack of any fuel....

Good point.

What tripped it was that I fitted a Multichanger last night, and this must have reset the switch.
