This is the final time i'm gonna bring these up on pistonheads.

Any way due to me volunteering to fit the exhausts after lot's of persuasion to my dad to get them, I am going to try and fit the exhausts instead of my dad.

My dad has gone out and trusted me to fit them...oh dear!!

I have looked under the car (on jacks) and have found how the back box is held on. I can see that the box doesn't just unbolt.

If any one has experiences getting just the back box off could you please explain to me.

I can see where the pipes meet and it is welded together. Do you have to heat up the welds or does the box just bang off?

Other wise i'l wait for my dad to get back.

Any info would be appreciated.

David

O.k thanks for the info.

The problem is though, my dads pipes on the old exhaust looks like it has been welded to the pipes off of the cats. There aren't any clamps joining the pipes together.
It hasn't been welded because it looks like the exhaust has come apart before, but it just looks like part of the exhuast pipe bonding

I will see what I can do tomorrow morning!

Thanks again

fitted the exhausts today and found that we had to replace the pipes in between the cats and the silencers.

Any way I fitted the exhausts and have found that they sit alot lower than the original box and that one of the pipes (in between cats and silencers) rests against the chassis without banging up or down and I have also tried to adjust the other one to do that but it is still to low and bangs.

Did any one else have any of those problems or does your's still bang around atall?

I would be extremely greatful if you could help me!

Also if any body has any pictures of how the exhaust should look once fitted could you please post them into this thread.

Hi,

My dad and I got them off of a man down in surrey. He saw my post on here and said that he had a set that he didn't want any more.

So out I was today in the pouring rain stupidly fitting them

At the moment, one pipe is up and the other pipe is down. I have adjusted the hangers but I think tomorrow I will get stuck in early so that I can go out with my dad in the afternoon to try them out... well that's what i'm hopeing.

I think I will take your advise and just keep trying.

Also how is it you adjust the pipes to go out to the side more i.e get them away from the middle? As usual for me one pipe goes more out to the side than the other one. Typical...
Do you have to slide the hanger round?

Thanks for you help and i'l try and get them sorted out so that we can give the pipes a thrashing in the afternoon.
We abouts is it in kent you teach? That's where I am from.

Thanks for the offer i'l remember that.

The problem is that I have found it hard to line them up so that they are center and that they don't bash against the chassis. I still haven't finished them.

Three things good about them though is that they sound fantastic, look good and they don't blow...thank god!

If they don't line up soon I mighht have to grind down the chassis or resort to ing them in to place! Only joking..

Oh well i'd better carry on and just prey.

Thanks for the offer again

David

o.k thanks for all of the help given.

I want to work on saturday any way so i said to my dad, i'l ask them if we can borrow one of the ramps so that I can line up the exhaust without getting a stiff neck...(working with jacks and axel stands!)

It should be o.k to borrow them...hopefully.

Thanks for all your help given and it will come in useful if when I fit the exhausts to any customers cars.

Thanks

David

Yes that's me (dream machines). I haven't worked there for a couple of weeks but i'l hopefully be down there on Saturday with a bit of luck to work and also line up the exhausts properly! So that I don't have to get another stiff neck from working with axel stands and jacks.

I haven't seen you down there for a while. Is that a good sign? (nothing gone wrong with the cerb?)
