Not much seems to selling right now?
Discussion
Is it me? I have been watching the 'for sale' ads of several marques for the past couple of months and cant help noticing that almost nothing seems to be selling at the moment. To the degree that it is putting me off making a purchase - I dont want to jump in only to find that the bubble of increased asking prices has finally popped and prices will actually start to weaken over the coming months (not usual for early summer).
What's happening people?

Just come through the worst winter for years , cannot see the purchase of an expensive super car being high up on anyone’s agenda to be fair , maybe a couple of weeks of good weather will change people’s outlook and things will start moving.
^^this. Also, the fact that the state of the roads aren't supercar conducive at present was putting me off, but, this too, will improve.
The economy is is reasonable shape having just startled to slowly recover from almost a decade in the doldrums, so I don't see any 'crashes' happening any time in the foreseeable future. (putting aside the clusterfk that is Brexit, but I don't think this will have a large direct effect on supercar prices)
McLaren Bristol sold 3 650S spiders in a week and they are all still advertised. If they have paid for 30 days advertising they just let it expire and not take it down immediately.
With the March snow out the way and Easter coming the market should pick up but not for overpriced vehicles of which there are many

Every day a new buyer/owner pops up on the Mclaren FB page...seems to be a sudden surge
spring bounce
new reg bounce
(and in the case of Mclaren) some recent good coverage and prices dropped to a point where they are starting to look good value
Plus £10K dealer deposit on a pre reg 720S has got me tempted.spring bounce

Sold my 430 spider a month or so back using sor through a specialist dealer. It went within a week and I thought I was close to the upper end of the price range. Their margin was miles lower than a main dealer.
Since been looking, hence my post here, for a replacement, I am currently trying to guess how much haggle room I may have with main dealers for 'approved used' cars, especially since they seem to be sticking around... I would of though easily - £5k as an opening gambit (on a £100k + car) but maybe I should be haggling harder than that?

"Haggling" room depends on Brand and individual garage. They all take a slightly different advertising stance. Lets just say the more established brands tend to speculatively price their cars yet those brands that do not necessarily have the following and natural flow of sheep price theirs more aggressively to attract clients in the first place.Since been looking, hence my post here, for a replacement, I am currently trying to guess how much haggle room I may have with main dealers for 'approved used' cars, especially since they seem to be sticking around... If you know the history of the car you are interested in and its been in stock for over 6 months without a price reduction then £5k should easily be achievable IMHO

Define 'sensible' nowadays though. The spread between trade and retail is bloody big and has been getting ever larger in the last few years and frankly is getting somewhat absurd imo.
I’m not surprised the spread has increased. That has a lot to do with the economy too. I know one specialist who’s holding very little stock of their own right now. That low trade bid you might be getting is their polite way of saying we don’t want your car at all. Gassing Station | Supercar General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
