Advice on buying a 6.0 Diablo :)
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on buying a 6.0 Diablo.
I have £95k to spend and I was originally looking for a Gallardo, but after viewing a few they just don't "do it" for me.
Car purchases for me are always based so much on emotion, and the 6.0 Diablo gives me plenty of that while the Gallardo just doesn't for some reason, although they are lovely little cars.
A Diablo, to me, is what a true Lambo is all about. They're big, brutish, scary to look at and intimidating to sit in or even be around
What sort of things should I be looking for when trying to source a car? Are there particular bad points I should check for, and certain big jobs that need doing at certain intervals ike cambelts etc?
What is the ownership experience like? Do you find yourself avoiding certain places because of the car etc?
How do these monsters perform on the track?
What are they like to drive?
How do the running costs compare to a Ferrari 355?
How well are the 6.0's finished compared to the earlier Diablo's?
Does anyone have any numbers of how many RHD 6.0's were produced, and in which years?
Were the rear wings an option?
Where should I be looking to find one?
I've found three for sale so far. Two of those are in the PH classifieds, and one on Autotrader. I can check the classifieds here, along with the websites of Top Gear cars and Specialist Cars GB. Is there anywhere else I should be looking to try and find more?
A Diablo has always been a childhood dream for me, and I'm really excited at the thought of getting one at last but I need the help of you guys to steer me in the right direction

It's a no brainer, m'lud.
Nothing usurps it; the quintessential statement of magnificent excess.
So much more than a mere automobile, it is a rolling artform, something I could spend years simply gawping at, perpetually photographing and marvelling o'er, the incarnation of my ultimate, manufactured satiation.
You have the necessary folding?
Hello, Mr Barker?

Hello, Mr Barker?
Sorry... In a rush, so to summarise
Speak to Dion at www.elmscollection.co.uk - he has a black car , 7000 miles, 90k. Helped supply mine. He's honest, has integrity and will supply you a car at the best price. Unlike some dealers
16 UK RHD cars, 3 SE's , 2000-2002
Cam chain, hence no changes
Weak point, clutch. £2300 at Mike Pullen. Upwards of 4k at Lambo London
Annual service, £400 + vat at MP, big (Valve) service @30,000km's something like £1500
Pinnacle of Diablo development , they sorted out the problems. 99 Sv's also v.desirable although also
rear wing, something like a 6k option in CF trim
Problem will be finding a car, then verifying history, service.. There are some bad ones, but we'll probably know the history of the car on here....

The black car at the Elms Collection is probably the finest 6 litre Diablo out there.
Previous owner maintained regardless, to the extent that he spent in excess of £11,000 in the last year alone just to make sure everything was perfect before he sold it.
I have personally checked this car over, and can vouch for it, it is stunning, and the carbon end pipes and sports exhaust make an evil noise that just has to be heard.
And again, if Dion if involved from Elms, then that is all you need to know.
Ruttboy.

Sods law I've just read this after a few glasses of Italian's finest and now in a pondering mood!! Elms, don't rub it in...Sell my 360 for me at a nice price, , and I may have to succumb to the darkside, even if it's just to piss off T_666 a.k.a TANGOMAN!!!! Justin,
Out of interest have you ruled out a Murci, if so why?

I've not ruled out a Murci, but I'm gradually working my way "up" to one of those and I'd quite like an LP640 in the next year or so.
A 6.0 Diablo would be just incredible until then, and I'd try and hang on to it still if I was to get an LP at a later date. I love big Lambo's

Crikey, only 16 UK cars? Not much chance finding one for sale the same colour as yours then
Exactly ! 3 Orange cars + 1 SE ... Neither Tony or Jan (other Orancio owners) are selling and the SE owner I heard took his off the market as he couldn't bring himself to sell it

I have been promised first refusal on the Orange 6.0 SE if it ever becomes available. Looks like all the orange ones are spoken for.
