Well done for a brave purchase...and I`m sure it will give you loads of pleasure....
Kit car magazine should help fill in any gaps in your knowledge...

Lol!

I'm sure Kit car supremo Den Tanner will fill you in with his views on Italian supercar replicas, especially a certain yellow one.......hehe

And you lot were feeling sorry for her/him!! Hate to say I told you so. Gets stiffed and so try's to stiff someone else, only for more money. And uses someone on here as a testimonial. Hilarious!

Have been reading 'till now this thread with much amusement, TBH, but now that I've seen the inflamed Lou lady + hubby trying to nail-down some other punter with their replica stuff, in the hope he/she makes the same mistake as them, well, deserves NONE of my commiseration

shoot

Think it's time to call e-bay before someone else gets hurt (in the pockets).

I imagine them in the act of selling the kittie and telling the punter "ahhh, BTW, if you have some problem with the car, there is some ppl in a cars forum, right, who can give you loads of good tips and advice... such a nice bunch of guys these ppl... you'll never feel alone..."

Yep right: in the company of some AA dude trying to help you out.

AMAZING

Well, for the same reason this pair of ****ers argued they were nicked "their lifetime savings" (fu**ing hell) by whoever sold them their replica thingie, therefore, to avoid the same happening to somebody else. Have you read their posting in e-bay?

True, maybe no-one can help if a punter happens to be a d*ck and do as they did, but, knowing they could stiff somebody else is just too much.

You don't know anything about the car. I think we all know that they don't know about the mechanics of the car, and that we all agree that she hadn't lost her "lifes savings".

We don't know that there's anything wrong with the car at all, but clearly they (or probably she) wants out of it 'cos they're clearly in above their heads. He's possibly trying to save his marraige, and I don't blame him for wanting to do so.

They're fully entitled to obtain whatever price threy can for the car, as everybody is. Personally, I think they're dreaming, but hey, I've been wrong before. rolleyes

The couple may have been a bit foolish over the purchase of this car, but who here has never made a mistake, particularly when it comes to the purchase of a car?

Whoever chooses to buy the car should be perfectly capable of looking after himself. I'd just recommend he don't come to PH for help and advice, thats all.

I gotta say, I don't know what ticks in a mind that can only see an opportunity to stick the boot in when someone asks for some help. Its very true that had the guy, and not the girl posted originally he would have got a roasting. But not from me he wouldn't. I'm happy with myself and don't need to take such opportunities to show the world how clever and perfect I am.

The negative remarks on here have been very spiteful, and now people want to get even more spiteful.

OK, let's go by parts :

1. You don't know anything about the car -> True, but there are good indications in the thread about what's all about...

2. ...and that we all agree that she hadn't lost her "lifes savings" -> pretty much don't know (and guess no-one here knows), and neither care about, and is not essential to the request for help except asking for compassion (and you do not need that strapline here in order to get a helpful hand)

3. He's possibly trying to save his marraige, and I don't blame him for wanting to do so -> and you are making a point about me knowing nothing about the car... guess you are some sort of mentalist to make this one call...

4. They're fully entitled to obtain whatever price threy can for the car, as everybody is ->
but NOT if that means nailing-down some other (imprudent) punter outta there (again: have you seen their ad in e-bay?) Following your line of argument, you would as well justify fraud... IN FACT, that was pretty much THEIR (Lou's) CLAIM on their purchase (or may I remind you the considerate words Lou had on the original seller of the kittie?)

5. The couple may have been a bit foolish over the purchase of this car -> kinda obvious

6. ... but who here has never made a mistake -> me, quite a few, so could not agree more

7. Whoever chooses to buy the car should be perfectly capable of looking after himself -> again 100% agree, but hey, if you see a tornado coming, wouldn't you break the alarm? What if it was YOU (not Lou) the one lured by this car? (anyway, assume you know what you're doing)

So, let's leave this in peace angel

Hmmm...

Bought on 8 September for £15k on eBay 290024141828

and now for sale again for £19k on eBay 200027452830

Sounds like a typical dealer's markup to me. I obviously have the wrong type of kit cars- I could be earning money!!!

There's a kit car show at Donington this weekend- why not take it along to see if you can unload it there...
Cheers
Ian

Well, it seems to be fixed as it has just driven past my office in Brighton. Pops and bangs too. Just not quite as loud as a real one

Im glad they got the car sorted, if I had read this thread sooner I would have offered to help as I own a replica myself. Proud of my car that I built myself and to a very high standard, not all replica'a are the same.

That's a bit daft.

I sold a concours Lotus Turbo Esprit for less than £15,000.

I will happily concede that an Esprit is not in the same league as a Countach, but we are not talking about a real Lamborghini here.

£15,000 will buy an immaculate 308 GT4, a mint Jalpa or a presentable 308 GTB.

I don't have a problem with replicas. I have previously built an early ally bodied Westfield Seven and would love to build a Westfield XI, so snobbery doesn't come into it.

I feel sorry that someone has bought a car, been disappointed with it and has had a whole load of problems.

But this car has been punted back onto eBay with a starting price of £4000 more than was paid for it....

Sympathy for the current keeper starts to pale a little when he seeks to make a tidy profit, at someone else's expense, out of a problem car.

Hmmm. I would have used a V8 or (Jag/BMW) V12. As for problems of parts from various sources what about a kit car? Or even, dare I say older TVR's.

Replias have never been 'my bag' would people have slated it as bad if it was a Cobra for example. Thank fcensoredk it was NOT a MR2 355 replia owner asking for help yikes

I know someone who is ALWAYS buying them things (mr2/355). Yes it looks nice but comes over in a holiday Rolex bargain kind of way. I did once say to him, 'look for the price you paid for this you could have a real Ferrari' and listed some that were on Ebay but they were all LHD and did not have the 'fcensoredy magnet' appeal for him.

Something I dont understand

Original advert says Number of Previous Owners: 3

New advert says Number of Previous Owners: 2

How can it lose owners?

Oh, and isnt it tacky to use the original vendors pictures?

It's like the DeLorean from Back to the Future!! Not so much "lost" an owner as gone through a time warp!!
