Ferrari F40 Values - Past and Present
Discussion
Mine cost me 1500 last year give or take. As for the F40 demanding less of a driver then the CGT, that's a little hard to substantiate. If you look at the raw ingredients I'd say its also not true. The simple fact that the F40 has an extremely aggressive power delivery when compared to the silky smooth v10 in the CGT would suggest otherwise too. But its all personal opinion.

I've had mine a while now and this winter might get it sprayed Viper green and the wheels done black. Will need to trim the seats black too , cos the red ones would clash terribly.
I wanted to get mine done in iridium with Tan leather seats.. I think that would rockoh.. you were joking? ... erm .. me too?

You can't put tan with iridium, that wouldn't work. You'd have to have a black interior with iridium but I agree that iridium would indeed rock on an F40, plenty of shapes and angles to catch the light.
Oh, and, erm. . I'm not joking. I've spent a decade looking at the same colour, time for a change!

Disclaimer: all colour choices are subjective.
In a photo, I agree, when the lighting is as perfect as above and you have the contrast with the moisture. However, it can often look very flat IMO and is terrible for showing dirt. I much, much prefer Blu Sera and wish someone would paint their F40 in it.

Although not necessarily indicative of the full price range, the failure of the car to sell at the FoS did give an idea of the market. Will be interesting to see what the RM car gets bid to tomorrow evening.
With history of accident damage, no mention of any service history over the last 20x years and no verification as to its true mileage i can't see it reaching anywhere close to its £350-£420k guide.RM catalogue says "The car is reported to have been serviced by a Ferrari dealer in 1991, at which time it showed 4,900 kilometres. Two years later, it was involved in an accident and professionally repaired to original condition by Vaccari and Peraro. Mileage now shows as 4,791 kilometres, which is presumed to be mileage completed since the accident, making the total travel since new just below 10,000 kilometres. During this time, the car was also repainted in Giallo Fly. It has since been refinished in its original colour of Rosso Corsa."

Cataloge does say its being sold without reserve, so will be VERY interesting to see what it goes for (I won't be bidding though!)100 IAN said:

I agree the failure to sell of that specific car gave an idea of the market, not in terms of prices but in terms of quality...this is a market that can only absorb the best cars with good and verified history! Average cars with dubious provenance will always fail to sell as most of the owners now expect to be paid big bucks just for the sake of selling an F40...I bought mine 6 months ago, I've already been offered more than what I paid. Haven't bought it to make money but to fulfill one of dreams I always had of owning an F40. Clearly I'm not unhappy seeing the car going up in value but as I always said even if the value will drop I'd still have one of the rawest, finest and most iconic Ferrari ever produced. Given the above I'll not be surprised if the F40 that will go on auction this eve will sell somewhere between 300k and the low estimate...
