+1also worth speaking with Pete Krausse if you're seriously interested in the Mondial's capabilities. Here's a snippet from his standard T coupe adventures:
Late to the discussion as usual, but having owned and tracked a GT4 (1984-1985), a Mondial QV Coupe (1999-2004) and my current daily driver, a Mondial T Coupe (2005 on), I can say conclusively that from a track performance standpoint, the Mondial T Coupe will blow off a GT4 pretty comprehensively. That said, the GT4 has wonderful noise, simple mechanicals and is, as someone else pointed out, a more visceral driving experience.
It does boil down to Hans' last statement, they're both not bad, considering the age difference. The interesting challenge would be the QV Coupe versus the GT4, they're more comparable. The T Coupe is in a different league.
The first track event I drove my current T Coupe was at the pleasure of the original owner at the 1990 Watkins Glen Annual Meet. I was one of the quickest cars in the group, routinely passing Boxers, Daytonas, 348's and all kinds of comp cars (250 LM's, 250 GTO's and several Comp Daytonas). The car was a pleasure to drive, carrying big slip angles into the fastest corners on the 3.37-mile Grand Prix track (with the OLD Turn 5, awesome).
Afterwards, quite a few people came buy and inquired about the car, confusing it with the earlier 3.2 Mondial Coupe and aghast when they were shown the engine "way down" in the engine compartment and installed "in the wrong direction." I smiled when a 288 GTO and a few F40 drivers came by after having given the dreaded and reluctant passing point-by signal to a freakin' Mondial! They said, "that engine bay looks like ours." <very big grin> Not quite, but the layout is the same and having the crank five INCHES closer to the asphalt made all the difference in the world.

I had a mondial 8, not a bad car but will never set the world alight! A gt4 knocks spots off a mondial, be it a 8, qv, 3.2 or T. The 308 gt4 is a proper classic, where as a mondial is a little, dare I say it (?!) naff...
All my opinion of course, and everyone is different.
I've often considered buying a mondi as a daily driver car but they can be quite un-reliable. Mine needed a fus box (£1200) and I was told it was 'last brand new one available'....

hej great link, just bought one of these on ebay with pinky paint, ropey interior, wrong wheels for considerably more than the 12K's quoted here on this old thread, thats inflation! hopefully the 3.2 1987 with ABS is the right balance between old and new. Bit rusty under on the under skin aero panel and some garage rash but probably not serious if mostly galvanised above.

Supposedly straight runner.
The smart thing would have been to join an owners forum and put the feelers out.
But being a bit impulsive and conversely looking for a 4 seater convertible for ages (was thinking a fat arse megane 1.5D with glass roof).
Had to have a lie down an hour after the auction was won and feel nervous with the what-have-I-done feeling

After that was potting roses to chill down
Anyhoo, cant see another 3.2 cabriolet anywhere in Europe for under £30k - even if minters were £17k 3 years ago.
Its the interior and the 3.2 with belt access, ABS, modern FI i wanted so chuffed.
Black is nicer than red (more pink just now) but there are not so many around.
Hopefully as a cab if i have a family, lifting kids in an out will be easier. Family car. PH Manlogic.
The last car for my collection will be either a seven seater two stroke 1960 SAAB estate (very rare) or some 30's Rolls Royce with seven seats, but this purchase has cleaned me out financially for the time being, so any all repairs and upgrades will be done "in-house" i.e. by me
Bid max £19170 and it went for £18900, was actually expecting to get sniped, but no other bids for the final 30 mins.
The clincher at 7am during the manic prebid research phase was actually this post from >5years< earlier
Anyway they were my "buying thoughts" shared as many people have probably thought about it along similar lines - especially as me three years ago!
At £27k inc VAT/import etc it is not a steal but hopefully will be inflation proof even if not "appreciating" with fun spannering.

The reason they were unloved was mostly due to reliability/corrosion issues caused by lack of maintenance and bodged repairs by owners who couldn't really afford them whilst they were at the height of depreciation. Now they are recognised as a true classic, the interest garnered in them means people are spending money on them two get them right.
