Surely the forgery of the sales receipt for the Perf. in the story above is fraud? This would/could end with very serious repercussions for the dealer.
And it will not be a one off
No. If it was me I’d probably report them to HMRC if I was the seller...forging sales invoices would get them in a whole load of trouble. They’d be all over them.

The only SOR I would enter into would be with a main dealer. No one less than that.

Still amazes me how trusting people are to hand over their cars on a wing and a prayer

Directors don't match Verdi and GVE on Companies House, but only done a quick search. Do we know official company name for what was Verdi?

Purcahsed a Performante through them July last year. Cash. Very much so a SOR dealer.

Not particularly helpful leading up to a visit. When doing the deal, more than helpful. Post deal, pretty crap tbh. Car is fine, more than happy with the car, totally sound but the only reason I went with them is they had the car in the spec I wanted - at the time it was the only one in the country and actually after keeping loose tabs on the market another one the same has yet to come up.

Collected the car with a buldge in sidewall (not there when viewed a week before) - Took 3 weeks and a day to sort.
I still do not have my V5(!)
Ordered a cover (didnt come with the car) wasnt ready when collecting, nor the week after or the week after. Was told it was shipped to me etc, recived when tyre was sorted (so was never shipped).

They were busy, pulled a few lies, I get it. Still, not on but st happens.

2/3 months later, I found the orginal owner via instagram (small world) we talked. Turns out the difference I paid was some 7K different to what they told the owener who of course got 7K less than they should. They even went to the effort of forgeing the sale recipt with the 7K difference. Not only is that not on im pretty sure there is probably some law broken there too and if they would go that far to fraudulently dupe someone for "just" 7K it makes you wonder what else they would do.

Law broken? Yes, it’s called theft.

They are a 100% SOR outfit, they will make out that they own the stock when actually they don’t.

Most independent super car dealers operate in this manner, I personally would stick to a main dealer network when possible.

I enquired about a 650s with them a year or so back, they assured me they owned it out right, it then turned up at another independent who feed me the same b**l s**t for it to then end up at another independent. Looked a lovely car at the time, sadly it hung around like a bad smell after that.

I enquired about a car 18months ago, which I then found also for sale at another dealer , same car.
I am now selling my 570s and they have been in touch with an SOR offer, all very professional and sounded very good. However..... I will take my chances in the classifieds

If you present the car correctly and price it fairly there’s no reason why a private sell won’t work. Far safer than a smoke and mirrors outfit going bust with your car!

Did the person complain to GVE?

7k is more than enough to warrant a serious complaint with action. After all, using SOR is there for us to get more return for our cars, so clearly was on the sellers mind when he placed it there?
He took it up with them, they denied it so naterally he asked for a copy of my sales receipt which I of course gave for him to wave at them. I havent heard anything since.......will drop him a message.

I had them call me after my GT-R was on here for a couple of weeks. Fed up with the usual "wat you take mate" texts / calls / emails, I decided to let them have it to see what they can do.

They spun it along that they had someone close to buying for a couple of weeks, but I found out eventually that he was about 20% shy of the price and I strongly believe they used this story just to keep it on their forecourt. However, that wasn't necessarily the problem.

When I picked it up (they'll collect but you either pay them to return it or you have to collect it - they don't mention that) the rear numberplate was missing ("we don't take them off so I don't know what happened"), the car was filthy inside and I mean disgusting (we're in the middle of Covid...), when it was immaculate when they collected it from me.

But the most annoying thing was that I'd left it with about quarter of a tank of fuel. Upon picking it up the car was running on fumes with the engine management light on and with a further 10 miles on the clock despite them claiming it hadn't been driven. Fortunately the nearest petrol station was only a couple of miles away so carefully got me way there. I took it to Mercedes as it was under warranty and without giving them any details they said it was because the tank had been drained beyond what would be advisable / on the verge of it conking out. Basically my conclusion is that they'd taken it out and had some fun in my car around the local roads.

Needless to say that when I called to ask about its treatment, no-one at GVE was able to take my call and no-one called me back. I got one very brief email from the guy I dealt with who said "well if it had been like that you'd have come back into the dealership wouldn't you" - yes mate, but having waited around for half an hour to pick up my filthy car with the missing plate that would apparently be there for me to simply pick up the keys (in these Covid times), I was rather pi**ed off and ready to get on my way.

Basically I wouldn't go to them at all again. I've seen a car on there for sale that was what I was after subsequently, but passed it by due to my experience with them.

Safe to say then that GVE London suck. It’s good for people to be able to tell their honest stories. Saves another Verdi situation where so many people got ripped off, or indeed another Rosso Corsa story from the early 2000’s.

Based on people’s comments on here, if I had one of my cars on SOR with these guys I would be getting in a car now to go collect it straight away.

How some of these SOR dealers carry in trading with the level of customer service you here about is beyond me.

There isn't anything wrong with SOR if its done right. I've used TH Boler in the past to move a couple of Range Rovers, 981s, Bentley GT, Paceman JCW and Golf R. All transaction were smooth from my point of view, admittedly all my cars sold with some warranty remaining from manufacture. The only car they couldn't sell for me was my RS6 which had Matt paint and someone scuffed the rear bumper in a supermarket car park. It was reflected a little in the price, but buyers wanted it sorted which just wasn't financial viable at that time, so that car was PX.

Sounds like GVE don't communicate with either end of the supply chain. I have well and truly ruined that car out they are selling, which is a shame as the interior is lovely on that black FF.

On another note I've used Tootle to off load my last few, it works ok.

When it comes to buying or selling McLarens outside the main dealers, it is worth calling Alistair Bols, even if it’s just to get true mkt value.

I sold my 12c through him, and tried to buy another car but was beaten to it.

Tried trading in my Vantage with GVE in autumn 2019...they were utterly useless sent them pictures and video of the car all good then heard nothing for weeks even tho I chased them a couple of times...gave up and eventually did a deal with Redline in Yorkshire, totally different experience excellent professional outfit I believe they do some SOR but actually own alot of their stock too which is how proper dealers should operate. How amateur operations like GVE stay in business is beyond me however if they're playing fast and loose with SOR that might explain to some extent.
