I don't blame Pininfarina either.. they don't sign-off a design, they just put forward designs to Ferrari.

I blame the blind man who thought that looked good.

Which begs the question, was this effort one of Pinin's actual proposals or did they take a proposal and say..."I know, lets put a load of scoops, ducts and spoilers on it!"

It's just.......aaarrgghh! Aaaarrrrgghhh!

To be fair...I think the door is a nice shape, but even that's compromised by a rather ungainly duct.

As much as it pains me to say it, I agree, the Z06 design is much better resolved than the 599, especially with the racecar front bumper.

500bhp and c.£110K cheaper.

Steve, for the love of Ozrich's lesser known tentacle, reassure me you speak in jest?

It does have whiff of "get's 'em wet" about it, stylistically, especially from that shot above but really, this is one car that could signify a superb segue into midlife crisisdom, what?

Sorry Der, not for me I'm afraid. As suggested previously, I'm sure it's fantastic to drive, which is of course very important, but stylistically it just doesn't do it for me.

There are far more beautiful cars to spunk £170K on and they're built at Gaydon. You know it's true.

Pininfarina can definitely do a lot better... so I agree its the plonker who oversaw the project who fecked it up.

I think Napolis' Enzo project (see my other thread) is going to prove to Ferrari fans that Pininfarina CAN make a gorgeous car and will kick Luca up the arse and get him to start producing gorgeous cars again.

Seeing cars like this in reality is a different thing altogether, they have huge prescence even if, like the Enzo, their angularity imparts a certain 'gawk' photographically.

This I found to be emphatically the case when I saw the 612 Scaglietti, it was a simply profound experience.

I believe it will be similarly so with the 599.

There is something else here which needs putting into focus: the sheer driving rapture of these cars.

The recent cars are sensational steers and the latest batches can only raise the bar ever higher.

It is a measure of peoples' over satiation with the nectar of such automotive hedonism that ludicrous reactions involving vomit logos are invoked in the prescence of such utter majesty.

Such dismissiveness is an indication of pure ignorance, literally, diff-splitting dumbness, or both. Get a f@cking grip - this is a 600+ horsepowered Fezza.

Re the Astons, Steve; yes, the Vanquish is a contender except for one critical thing - it would be monumentally pistol whipped by any measure of driven comparison and for this kind of outlay, no matter how staggeringly classy the uber haunched Aston may be, it is left for dead by this new force.

Because that is what this is, a new order of power, a thing of sublime ability at a grunt level which is now becoming ever so slightly inconceivable.

It is bloody superb.

i wasn't so sure at first when the first pictures came out, but i do quite like it now.
it'll only be a short matter of time before it is held in the same regard as the 550/575 models and i'm sure it will take the GT sector to another level.

its hardly pretty. Front is awkward. If Aston can turn out beautiful cars why cant Ferrari? I can understand the enzo being ugly, but more "normal" roadcars should be a feast for eyes, ears and the soul

True that the 612 looks better in the metal than in print, but that's because print does not convey the sense of scale.. If the 612 were 80% of it's actual size, it would look crap, but it's size makes it "work" somehow. I think no matter the size of the 599, the conflicting angles/lines will never be resolved.

A 100% purely subjective measurement. Call me superficial, but if I were spending £170K on a Ferrari, I'd like it to look nice.. being fast and handling well isn't enough I'm afraid.. it has to stir all senses.
