High Mileage R8, Terrible idea?

That is very over priced. I am surprised you are even thinking about buying it.
I would be double minded at 30k nevermind 35k
Behave! When have you ever seen an R8 for sale that isn't crashed/written off for 30k? I certainly haven't.I would be double minded at 30k nevermind 35k
It's the right price for the mileage imo. Even WBAC value mine (which is the same year, spec, etc) with the mileage adjusted at just over 30k and i can't imagine it's a car WBAC would want.
ETA - Oh, i see you came to your senses and deleted your post.
Congrats on the new car OP! I've always thought the R8 was a great looking car, not overly 'out there' but a good, solid design.
It's just that EVO and other reviewers really liked this car when it came out, I always thought it was considered a very un-Audi Audi and a great drivers car.

Fair enough if you don't want a drivers car.
What makes you say this? Hearsay, or personal experience? It's just that EVO and other reviewers really liked this car when it came out, I always thought it was considered a very un-Audi Audi and a great drivers car.

Anyhows congrats on the R8 dude well done! Still got some nice crisp sunny mornings to enjoy!
I think that was a good decision. You have some parts as well that are new, so don't have to worry too much about those either.
The money you save goes into your insurance piggybank for mechanicals. There is also good cred for having a really high mileage supercar.
As Mr Trotter says, "who dares wins". Are you selling the M5 then? I'd be more worried about the M5 if it was the V10 version with the gearbox going ....
PS And it looks better than the newer one which looks too much like a TT now. I think that shape R8 will age gracefully.

Thank you, I got a very good PX price towards the car so that's where the M5 has gone. I also drive a RR daily but I may be selling that..if I can bring myself to selling it (love that car)The money you save goes into your insurance piggybank for mechanicals. I agree about the parts and they are warrantied by Audi, the M5 had just the same ability to drop even bigger bills and that was at 94,000. I'm confident this car will be fantastic I have owned many performance cars now.

Also the guys gave me a VERY fair price for my car 2k over what any other garage offered plus they have been great to deal with and just enthusiasts themselves which is comforting in its own right
Looks really good, I've got a real soft spot for the R8 and hadn't realised they could be had for this sort of money.
It's a real shame that people still get put off by mileage, cars should always be bought on condition in my opinion and it seem like that's what you've done and got yourself a really nice machine.

Nice one! I've had an identical looking one for 18 months now and have been very happy with it. The mileage thing is not necessarily an issue. I bought mine with 16k on the clock and having put another 10k on I've still had a couple of issues. The good thing about yours is that, having covered that mileage it's probably it's problems and had them sorted!
One thing you might want to check is,as with most direct injection engines they do suffer from carbon build up on the inlet valves. R8s are quite bad for it and it can rob them of a good 100bhp! If yours has never been cleaned it will almost certainly be suffering. Only £300-£400 job so not the end of the world.
Enjoy!

It won't appreciate, that's for sure.

I wonder about this (vested interest alert - I have an R8 V8 manual).(I do this for a living so feel in good stead to advise )
There appears to be exponential demand for manual Ferraris of the same sort of age. The new R8 has received a luke-warm reception, and of course is only available in V10 flappy paddle guise. Early R8s haven't moved in price for at least a couple of years, and I wonder where they will go in the medium term for a nicely spec'd V8 manual car. They were well reviewed when new and the look doesn't appear too dated (yet).
Lovely car OP, hope you enjoy it.
