this guy originally said he wasnt interested in paying us a penny, only because i threatened legal action against him today has he agreed to meet the costs - because the car was in the garage last week - through their negligence, they never replaced the wheel nut properly and forgot to put something onto the car. when the car stopped, the police confirmed that we were practically minutes from death, another few bends and the wheel would have flown off as it was partially hanging off. You can imagine that I probably wouldnt be here now had that happened.
The point of my last post was to inform people that he has now agreed to meet some of the cost and that I hadn;t been ripped off. The costs so far are in excess of £2,000, which I dont have.
Sorry if you felt I wasted your reading time. Everyone else has been extremely helpful and sympathetic to me.

Surely you noticed a change in the handling as the wheel nut loosened, I always though it was the drivers responsibilty to check around the vehicle before setting off.

What on earth is wrong with the car that's going to cost that much, I take it it's a 2000cc engine you could drop another one in for less than that.

Lou,

Don't listen to the knockers on here, some people have a little more time and money than they do manners.

Thats not really the case though. No-one's been rude as such, just airing their opinions on something posted publicly.

I thought she got off lightly to be honest.

Buying these is sad in the first place but putting all your savings into one is just plain stupid.

Not the most polite of reponses you have to admit?

I hope things work out for you lou. If the seller contributes then great and you are lucky because if he didnt want to help , well civil proceedings are just gonna be a headache.

Dont let this destroy your dream, just keep in mind that the thing about replica builds like this is that you have to expect a degree of surprise (unless you are a seasoned mechanic and/or have inspected the car fully). If volume manufacturer struggle to get their cars right and safe all the time, then a replica is most likely to be worse. Nobody is going to alert you to safety recalls on your replica build... regardless of how talented the builder was.

Keep an open mind about the running costs, start saving a little money aside for a rainy day, and have the car professionally serviced, maintained and if necessary 'inspected' at regular intervals for your safety. Perhaps doing some research on the unlying donor cars will help you when negotiating with garages etc. Good luck!

For 2K you could probably replace that engine with one of the same... or replace most of the bits that have ed up....

Just out of curiosity did you actually take it for a test drive before buying and give it the once over (wheels, suspension, oil, etc)???

Like I said I don't make any apologies for saying it like I see it.

I simply don't understand how/why somebody would put all their savings into a 'fake' Lambo?? On top of that buy it from an internet site and not have the car inspected. If you don't even have 2k to fix the problem then how were you even going to run the car in the first place??

I hope she gets the problem sorted out but sounds like she this was definitely an avoidable situation and the guy saw her coming a mile off.

Ridiculous/fake/stupidist thing ever/post on another forum...not rude?

I just think that the original post was asking for a little help and possibly a little sympathy (not asking too much on this type of forum, wouldn't you say?) and yet it mostly recieved the usual (opinionated) battering.

I agree that it is probably not the best financial decision that these people have ever made, but we all make mistakes. The best move is to try and make the most of it.

By defition a replica is a basketcase of parts from different cars and probably a death trap even without engine problems. They should never be sold in the first place and don't even get me started on the people that buy them....

And you are talking out of your a*se!

Would you spend 15k on an MR2 with a plastic bodyshell thrown on top of it?? Thought not.

The thing alot of people on here forget is that not everyone on here earns top wages but we still love our cars. its took me 30 yrs to get my ferrari, however if push had come to shove i would have gone down the replica line just to think i shared the experience alot of people take for granted..

ok off my soapbox now i hope it works out lambo and hope you enjoy every second of it when you get it back..

I am glad that everything has worked out for Lou. As a matter of interest, to the people that slagged her off in this thread, what cars do you drive? I fancy a laugh this evening. If Lou and her Husband want to drive a Replica then good for them. Let's see what the big shots here drive?

If you have a butchers, most of the longer standing members have included their cars in their profiles.

Thanks for your advice. I am not interested in all the longer standing members, just the stone throwers. The poor girl has received some rotten treatment here. Out of order guys.

As I said earlier, a lot better treatment than she would have got if she'd come here as a bloke with a story like that. Anyway...what sort of fella drops a large one like that and then sends his missus on to a forum to try and bail him out? And what sort of woman goes along with it? Can't help thinking 'Lou' is about right...same gender as that other one that played the hulk. You've been had by the 'poor girl'!

Fair enough but why do people like you have to be so bloody boring?

Well why not just leave it at that?

Pistonheads really is getting shite. You can’t even come on here and air some problems without some wanker coming on and making cheap mileage out of the situation in some twisted effort to boost his ego.

That's me buggered.
I can't argue with a fair point like that. I always face my problems and never hide behind my Wife. Incidentally, if anyone spoke about my Missus in that tone then I would be chiming in to this forum like a f**king hurricane right now.

Enter Lou's Husband... (Clock's ticking)
