can't get much more dramatic than this, absolutely rapid too.
That looks a bit special for £50K .. More special than a Tuscan 2S at the same price .. yes I think so.can't get much more dramatic than this, absolutely rapid too.

Not many people of any age say wow if the see a 997 or a V8 Vantage, but they do when they see an R8 (in a good colour like Sepang), or a Ferrari 360 or an Evora.
My Vantage gets almost as much attention as my 360 - certainly 90%, if not more. I agree with the 997 though - my 996 turbo got as much attention as a Ford Focus.(Although I don't think either of them really get a "wow" these days).
That Ultima looks fab!
For around £50k I's also be thinking about an Exige. You'd have a great time driving it and your lad would love the Supercar looks

Or if you need rear seats for a (very) small person an Evora Sports Racer

Hmmm - is that a sports racer? Ut should have black room and sills, but it does have the correct black mirrors, so maybe someone decided to to go for the other black bits. For around £50k I's also be thinking about an Exige. If OP can stretch to £55k I think an Evora 400 would be better, but the S is pretty nice (I am biased)

I would certainly say it gets a similar amount of attention to an Evora yet as a petrolhead I can't say I would give a Vantage a second look if one passed. One thing is for certain, if its attention from young boys that you want, the wackier the better so the Exige/Evora comes out on top; if its the ladies eyes you want capturing, its the Aston all day long. You would have to be Quasimodo to not get laid.

Ok for the odd car show and Sunday run but you couldn't do a hot summer weekend away in comfort.
Most probably get shot down again for posting pics etc but of all the cars I've had a V10 manual with sports exhaust and tuning is the best by far. The sound and that engine is off the scale and its a reliable Audi. Plus the series one is the best looking version imo of the R8s. Paid 55k for a late 2010 2 owners 15k miles.... Love it!

All the cars above would be very boring to a 12 year old. They might interest an older child but not at the age of 12. At that age they want a space rocket with wheels, preferable on fire with lasers pointed out the front.
My son at that age wanted the Cobra, because it made his friends go 'wow', and they marvels at the fact they couldn't hear each other talking when it was nearby. Nowadays 17 he wouldn't be seen dead in it, and only wants to talk about TVR's, Motorcycles, and old Ford cars
I'm afraid you picked a list of cars only a middle aged man would be interested in.
Doesn’t fit my experience in any way, the Granturismo along with the Ferarri F12 are amongst the most dramatic / aggressive looking cars out there and the looks and sound of a car will be of more appeal to a child than how it drives which they won’t experience first hand. My GT got lots of attention. The sound is sublime. I would say the same for the Aston Vantage which my mate had and I’ve driven. Lots of drama / occasion. R8 is a great shout in either guise. Budget £3k for an exhaust and fitting though. The closest you can get to a supercar without spending £100k. A fantastic drivers car and future classic especially manual.

Mine is similar - a couple of weekends back I took my Granturismo to see my nieces - 9 & 11 - and they loved it, particularly the noise. Agree it is a GT car rather than a sports car, but does have the advantage of having room for teenagers in the back that many of those mentioned earlier won't have.
Gents,
This has given me huge amounts of food for thought. I think the next step has to be to arrange some test drives and have my son come with me for the experience.
I can't say I would be particularly against owning any of the cars discussed, so it is now all about the driving experience and finding the right one.
Thanks ever so much for your thoughts and comments.

My 13 yr old boy won't let me sell the 997 turbo. You'd say its not a weekend car as really a dd but blimy its quick. Very quiet though compared to some of those other cars on the list which won't be better drives but certainly more of an event.
Its not immediately obvious what you'd go for at your price point. I think a 996 GT3 got to be worth a shout with little budget creep as they're always going to be in demand and may even appreciate one day. Amazing yellow one cropped up at 911 Virgin and they have plenty of 997 turbos too. Be fast though as I don't think that 6 GT3 is going to hang around in the classifieds very long.
Edited to say you should really look at a 997 GTS too if a 997 a possibility. Probably the best 997. V10 Audi great shout too.
