Obviously he’s got big social media presence but Bring a Trailer is so well established over there I’d be amazed if he can compete. https://carsandbids.com/what-is

A few sites are popping up now with much more reasonable fees than CC. https://carsandbids.com/what-is
I think they have (already) had their day.

I think SoR’s had it’s day for dealers too. Why would you do that instead of this ?
Finance. It would likely be very difficult (not impossible but it will rule out a large number of companies) to organise finance on a private sale through CC. A trade sale would likely be able to do something in retrospect. It's difficult (but not impossible) to arrange finance on a vehicle at a regular bricks and mortar auction.
SOR dealers provide the ability to finance cars. As the overwhelming number of cars baught are paid for in this manner I think they will continue . Well the ones that survive the current void we're in.
Regarding the very high spec Dick Lovett's ex-demo 812..

This has been at that dealer for a few weeks now. Maybe 4 or 5 at a guess. Expect they wanted that gone by now...https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2018-ferrari-8...

And many people know it was sold on CC for £211k inc fees. It’s even on the link you posted. Who is going to buy it 5 minutes later for £240k one wonders? Strange business model for the people who bought it.

Quite probably someone who needs finance/part ex and most likely hasn't heard of CC. Dealers do have their place for the services that some customers need in order to buy their next car.And many people know it was sold on CC for £211k inc fees. It’s even on the link you posted. I guess not everyone who buys Ferrari will be on PistonHeads or will make the connection between CC and this ad?And many people know it was sold on CC for £211k inc fees. Suspect there will be some people who look at Autotrader, compare prices and that's it. Some people can't be arsed with the investigation - if they see a car that appeals it will generally appeal to others so just get in there.
Will be interesting to see how this sells though.

You're correct in that the car was sold by DK in the CC auction however when new it was Dick Lovett's demo in January 2018..There was another similar car in RC at Ferrari Brum for £239K and sold in the first day only last week...Good cars are selling well despite what the doomsayers are saying on here...There is a lot of cash about looking for a home. And many people know it was sold on CC for £211k inc fees. Brilliant. Would be tough to sell but for the average winner of that, having £100k would probably be way more helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hgf1qe3YJw

Some oddities at the moment. A mint 205 sold for just under 10k a couple of weeks back, while a distinctly shabby one is currently at 11.5 with a few days to go. I’d have bought the first one had it not involved wiping out all my savings until I can sell my race car.
Bit harsh. Current one is a 1.9 which rightly or wrongly fetch more than the 1.6 which the previous one was if I remember correctly. History on the current one is quite impressive for a cheapy
Nicer color as well IMO.

I was thinking the same thing, to be fair. The 1.6 was a low mile, rare steelie with the green interior, etc - a grail for many.
The one there now, not a patch on it... except it's a 1.9.
Totally agree. I accept colour choice is subjective, but from long experience, if you can see a fault in the pictures, then in reality it’s a big fault. The silver one is ratty, and while I love the fact they ‘choose’ modern classics, in the last few weeks they seem to have moved to very average examples of ‘affordable classics’. The one there now, not a patch on it... except it's a 1.9.

At £240k its too expensive for a Jan 2018 car, ex demo, and 8.5k miles. There are 2019 cars advertised for £245-249k with delivery miles. The £211k price paid was just about right for this p1stonhead said:

Its a worry if descriptions are wrong.
Apologies if this has already been covered.
