Something else useful that a lot of owners don’t know is the key slot for Aventadors is down low on the left hand side dash below steering wheel.

You can also start it with this by pushing the key in instead of the start button. I don’t like keys in my pocket and so can also just use the slot to hold it.

There was a post a couple months back linking to a 17 or 18 plate Aventador S with close to 35k miles on it, I can totally understand why.
I totally underestimated the useability of these.

That’s about 50k in fuel😃

Re warranty - advised by Lambo UK dealer exactly that..
Book in for inspection then exension (service whilst there not bad idea) at any European dealer - Paris closest via tunnel - crazy that UK folk denied this ??
Very interesting...if the warranty is provided by an EU dealer can repaired be carried out in the UK?

that's approaching F50 levels in terms of mpg
It's mental. The SVJ which is based on the S, will do 200 ish miles on a full tank for motorway driving. I'm not disputing the quoted figures btw. Just shocked. As Topjay said, you can definitely squeeze a lot more petrol in once the nozzle clicks off, which should help.

Oh, and lovely car with a great spec. Enjoy it!
In context, a silent Taycan will do around 250ish miles on a full charge.
I know what I'd rather be driving, and especially when you're running low somewhere through the Alps.

To the OP - excellent choice of car, regardless of thirst - enjoy smile

I drove mine to Leicester at no more than 85mph as it's motorway all the way there and back for me. I had to stop on the way back for fuel at about 80miles as it had gone into reserve. Worked out at no more than 6 mpg at a steady pace. As I've said previously it's not just the cost it's the inconvenience. Back to a perf now it almost feels a Nissan leaf fuel wise in comparison.
I don't mind bad fuel consumption but that's simply a ball ache. I drive from Manchester to London often and also do euro trips, if I was in convoy with others then they might get a tad annoyed at us having to constantly stop every couple of hours!

Mileage is massively dependant on what mode car is in.

Per tank:

Strada will get you roughly 300 miles cruising at 70 you could probably get near 350 if you really wanted to but who does. Sport would be low 200 for the same

Hard road driving can be roughly anywhere between 80 and 130 depending if you use and hold high rpm or not, mixed bag is probably about 180.

I honestly don’t think you could achieve this in the S no problem in earlier Lp700 but I couldn’t better much more than 100 miles in any mode!

LP700 i would agree was a bit more but I've not found any significant difference in fuel stops on tours between any of the Aventadors, my SV and SVJ use the same. I think your S must have had some sort of issue for it to be that low, the fuel gauges are a bit dodgy stay on full forever and then drop very quickly once they eventually move. MPG figures for all quoted as roughly similar although that is a bit misleading for harder use.

I suspect the built in overrun and higher rev range probably accounts for extra consumption when not in strada for the later models.

Interestingly the S and SVJ don't seem to need the same run in as the previous generation that burned loads of extra fuel, they are pretty smooth from the start and don't have any real engine drag at all before first service, the older cars were horrendous to drive before first service fluid and software change.

For interest in a straight line rolling there is almost no difference in speed between S/SV/SVJ/Huracan/Performante although they all drive very differently.

Scotland earlier this year (the Italy tours are double size 40) i drove there and back from London and did the same a few years ago in SV its a good mpg test! Before meeting the main Italy tours for the last few years we have with a smaller group done South of France all the way down to mid Italy and clocked a lot of miles in all the models. Police being favourable and bike outriders to shut side roads makes driving a lot more enjoyable.

If anyone ever tells you women aren't attracted to Lamborghi's the below picture show that in Scotland in March you are fighting them off!

If I were buying another Aventador it would be an SV! The S is a better car dynamically but you need to look at why we buy these cars. It's the noise and the theatre! I think the SV has it all and is a rarer car and has this in spades. If you want a more nimble better handling car get a Huracan. If you want a car that turns heads sounds fabulous and has millionaire doors then there's not many cars come close.
I ordered my S before I drove one on the basis the gearbox would be so much better, while there was an improvement it wasn't massive, the gearbox is still it's greatness weakness. The four wheel steer is very good but again unless you look for it I didn't find it that different, an improvement yes but I could and would live without it on the SV.

Not so happy Aventador S owner!!!

Unfortunately I have had a rough start! - I previously alluded to overheating issues which have since been resolved as a new passenger side fan was fitted under warranty and was without the car for about 10 days during December (no big deal due to the nasty weather).
Got the car back and was functioning properly, and again driving it as much as possible adding 500 miles in 10 days - all is well with a big smile on my face.

Then - the car starts to make a horrid grinding noise in reverse and then on the M25 it decides 4th gear does not exist and goes from 3rd to 5th.
Left the car overnight hoping it might just be a software glitch but no - I took it out the next day, same grinding noise in reverse - took it round the block but this time 2nd gear did not exist and was jumping from 1st to 3rd.

Car picked up by Lamborghini assistance on a low loader - back to garage, has been there approx a week and got the call yesterday to say the car is getting a new gearbox pending authorisation from someone senior due to the cost.
The cost of the gearbox replacement including fitting etc would be £28,500 plus the vat.

The car has done approx 2500 miles in total.

Yes the car is still under warranty, but what do you do when the warranty expires???

Service department allude to lots of goodwill as long as the car is maintained to a high standard etc, but I would rather pay someone something and have an iron clad warranty rather than cross my fingers and pray on goodwill everytime.

Because of the weather and time of year I am not too bothered, but I would be if during summer.

Grange in Chelmsford are doing a good job with regards to keeping me informed etc so I can't fault them, just concerned about the warranty situation.

Imagine if the car was say 8 months out of warranty, but had done less than 5000 miles, sorry sir needs new gearbox, please pay our invoice £35,000.

I have a Gallardo SL with a Capristo exhaust which required a gentle remap and the tech suggested to not use supermarket fuel, even the higher rated.

He suggested to try and go for Shell where poss. More expensive but dramatically better quality

May make some difference to the warning lamp.

Oh that V12...

On another thread on PH someone mentioned you can get the car warrantied in Europe and then drive back to the UK...not sure where the repairs need to be carried out though.
