308s (non-GT4s) are rarely seen for less than 18k or so IME. A yellow one did sell for less a short while back (and I think it may be up for sale again).

I sold mine at that price Andy, don't forget...and there are a lot of unsold cars out there too...amd mine had guaranteed genuine mileage - no substitute for a sheaf of bills...

That yellow car could be the lhd US car that sold at auction, was then sold by Justin Banks - twice - went for cira £11k at auction and Banks sold it for nigh on £15k. He also sold a doggy ex Classic Car Club 80k mile car for about £17k last year

DaveZymol - did you buy that Quicksilver Supersport system in the end?

Brought my Granada with 115,000 on it, and passed it on with just a tad over 195,000 absolutely no probs. Dont think high mileage is a big problem these days with modern cars, provided they have been serviced, oil changed etc etc.

we are talking about a 70's or 80's Ferrari so how is this post relevant?

Thought we were talking just mileage here??, sounds like a high mileage Ferrari doesnt wear as well as a high mileage Granada? must admit I didnt know it was a Ferrari, whoooops.

You're posting in the Ferrari section of the forum and you didn't think that might be a clue?

I had a 79k mile Mondial t that was great. Took it to A specialist at Silverstone for the full cambelt service and told him to go through it with a fine toothcomb and it "only" cost £2,500.

Re ins., thanks Mark - ended up with Carole Nash for this year, similar sort of deal, but with only 5000 miles - probably enough but we'll see..
loving the car, 4th and 5th on an A road are superb - great having them in the same plane with the dogleg box..
treating it gently..(5000 rpm.is fine) love the fact you dont have to thrash it to get the best out of it, and the way it all blends together, and the fact it takes 20 miles to warm up! bella!

Congrats. I'm sure you've made wise choice.

I would have gone for it (for what that's worth). A high mileage car will at least have proven itself durable. The problem with "garage queens" is that components (especially rubber and plastic based ones) can often degrade if not exercised. Some poor soul eventually gets a car that spits it's coolant all over the road, before he notices the engine temp going skywards. Warped heads (if you're lucky), cracked heads if you're not. Same goes for belts, gommits, bushes, etc.

Well done and I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers Mike - the challenge is going to be using it regularly enough as the days shorten and weather worsens.. i dont really want to use it in the wet and end up putting it in the garage damp.. and doing long enough journeys to get it thoroughly warmed through - still, I'm luckier than most as i live near malvern and the welsh borders are within easy reach! my fav. lambo is the 350GT.. or 400GT.. bliss!

I went for the tubi in the end , not the real noisy one though , the reason i picked it was because of how it looks , theres a picture of one on a 308 on club scuderia forum , it looks amazing.

I'm just waiting for it to come over from the factory , so hopefully it should be fitted by the end of the week.
