High Mileage R8, Terrible idea?

Nothing sounds as good as a CD with its big phat uncompressed WAV files to me. Misuss' MP3 IPod sounds far worse than one even as a 256kbps file on a direct connection. What is the bandwidth/datarate on a Bluetooth stereo connection (hard to find...)? Tried it once (years ago) - maybe they are better now?
Agreed, will the system not play wav files from the SD Card or is it limited to just MP3?cgt2 said:

Good point! Datarate from an optical disk is quite low so any SD card that can manage about 10Mbps read should be fine. Dont think any of the 'autorip' apps like iTunes or Win media allow you to copy off the source WAV and file explorer just reveals 1kb .cda files. How do you get at the WAV's?Ken Figenus said:

How much smaller than a WAV would FLAC be? A WAV is usually about 40Mb for a track I think.
The entire album is ripped to flac, although I still have full control over individual tracks - a quick check suggests that it's about 25Mb per track (a 20 track album is 500Mb). Since it's lossless seems worth the saving.cgt2 said:

Lovely purchase. Now I've cleared the mortgage a supercar is my next must. I keep coming back to the AM V8 Vantage, I'm sure they've bottomed, but the R8 is a contender, I've always adored them.

Do not buy a AMV8. You will be bored in no time. I bought one as my fun car but, prefered my RS4 daily driver for fun.ETA

I nearly bought a vantage instead of the R8 but the R8 just offered more coupled with its reliability
I nearly bought an R8 instead of the Vantage but the AM (with its hatchback) offered greater practicality for everyday trundling. I don't think I would have been disappointed with the Audi, I just don't feel I would have used it as much due to the necessary packaging constraints of a mid-engined car. FWIW, both cars seem to offer acceptable reliability.
Nice to see agreement on PH Astons are a bit heavy on the set (often unnecessary) annual maintenance thing irrespective of mileage. But honestly the Vantage is not an unreliable car - tried and tested drivetrain. Bubbling paint on doorhandle on some and a dodgy brake pressure transducer and that is about it.
Coincidentaly a black R8 was outside my house this morning as I went to get milk - stunning. Remember one once humiliating me up Snowdon pass. All I had was a 375bhp Evo - aka 'mincemeat'!

A V8 Vantage will be my next car. I had one for the weekend and thought driving it felt more of an occasion than the R8. I've had my R8 for about 5 years though so that might be the reason however.
The Vantage felt like it could do with a bit more power on occasion but made a lovely noise!

+1. The one thing missing from the R8 to an extent is the noise. Get an upgrade and it sounds awesome! I had a Larini system on mine and the low end rumble was addictive! The Vantage felt like it could do with a bit more power on occasion but made a lovely noise!
