I've had the front wings of my 12c changed under warranty due to corrosion and a few others with 650s I know about too. Just point it out to the dealership when you're next in, shouldn't I think be an issue.
That's very comforting to know so long as you are in warranty, but I doubt they will extend that to any poor owners who don't have one.Trev450 said:

that happened long ago when the car was still under the original warranty afaik these things tend to happen quite quickly and get picked up by the first or second year service.I'll have a look tonight to see what the warranty actually is for such corrosion.
There's nothing specific on the UK website that I can see but in the US you get 3 years paint warranty with an additional 5 years (8 years in total) anti-corrosion warranty.
So provided the corrosion isn't due to paint chips which haven't been touched-in or accident damage, this aluminium oxide corrosion 'should' be covered.

I thought that a McLaren was all carbon fibre. Certainly it isnt rust - only steel rusts. If the panel is carbon fibre then the issue is likely to be osmosis of the FRP under the paint and if you prick one of the bubbles some fluid should come out smelling of vinegar. If the panel is aluminium then underneath the paint you will find a white powdery deposit.
Either way, either the wing need replacing or stripping and repainting. Afterwards I'd be inclined to apply ssome of that plastic film paint protector since the cause is likely to be road grit damage

Nope, for the standard production cars there are no cf panels unless you fork out for stuff like front wings/bonnet etc, only the chassis is cf. panels are aluminium or fibreglass. The P1 and the rear half of the 675s are cf body panels though fwiw.Either way, either the wing need replacing or stripping and repainting.
