Classic Lambo to make comeback?

Espada-like new design depends on Audi's blessing

The Lamborghini Espada (right) may be making a comeback, according to a report in Auto Express.

Pictures have emerged of a design study for a new version of the 2+2 coupé. It could attain production by 2008, says the story, but that depends on parent company Audi giving it the green light.

Introduced in 1968, the original Espada featured long overhangs and sweeping lines. The design studies suggest that it won't look much like that but it may be pillar-less. It's likely to be powered either by the Gallardo's 5.0-litre V10 or the Murciélago's 6.2-litre V12.

The original Espada is a great car.
I can sit in the back, and I'm 1,90 m!
It's hugely underrated.

The new model has a lot to live up to. The Espada was the fastest four-seater available in it's days...

I hope they can make something beautiful of it. The drawings look quite ok to me, however the RX-8 doorsystem... I don't know...

Ok, I'm being blind and possibly stupid but where are the drawings?

You're not stupid, they're here: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/ae_news_story.php?id=53097">www.autoexpress.co.uk/?http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/ae_news_story.php?id=53097

Shame the inside is dreadful 1960s futuristic Lambo look.

I don't agree... The series 2 isn't that ugly:

(edited to say: oops! that is a series 3)

and the engine makes you forget every flaw in the interior:

Would love to sit in one . . .

If you really really want that, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do...
The interior of the S1 reminds me a lot of the prototype, what was it called again... (damn memoryloss!)

I must say I prefer the original.

Me too, but it would be nice to have a modern version of a 4 seater (not a 2+2) supercar, other than a Maybwegh or a Cayenne (brrr....). That's why I hope they can build something in the spirit of the old Espada.
And yes, it MUST have a V12!
Oh, that noise, it's addictive!

Huh? Did Audi buy MG/Rover?
Looks terrible...
The black one is very nice though:

The LM002 study is obsolete and very ugly.
And an Espada needs a V12. Nothing more and surely nothing less.
