I'm thinking about changing my car and had 3 options on my mind..

575 Maranello F1 with Fiorano pack
Gallardo
Or wait another year or so and get a 612 Scaglietti

On all of them I would be thinking a late used example to take the major first time hit out of the equation.

The benefit of option 3 is that having kids I rarely get to use the 360 as we always need more than 2 seats so the 612 would be more practical.

Any opinions from existing owners or alternative suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

Residuals may well be better on the 612 by dint of the fact that it's a brand new car. The 575M is due for replacement next year and will suddenly look very old indeed.

True but 4 seater V12 Ferrari's do not exactly have a good history when it comes to residuals!

Those 2 comments are exactly what I thought and exactly sum up my dilema!!

Get the cheapest Gallardo you can find/deal on - AND a 997 "S" for everyday use (and to allow the kids to travel with you!)

The danger is though that I end up like I am now, only using the 2 seater to go to work in (circa 5 mile round trip) and that's it, the nicest car gets used the least.

I know many folks keep Ferraris / Lamborghinis locked away for 99% of the time and only use them occasionaly, but I can't see the point of that.

I've got an Audi A4 cabriolet for sunny wafting with the family and the Caterham for sunday blasts on my own / track days, then the wifes got a Volvo XC90 for big family jobs, so additional car is probably not sensible.

I think that from some of the comments here I'm comming to the conclusion that I ought to give it another 10 months and get a 612 then when they're down to more sensible money.

On the other hand that black 575.......oh no, here I go again!

And I am talking about waiting and getting a year or 18 month old 612 when the major hit has been taken by someone else.

I have to say that my Ferrari & Lambo ownership has been awesome compared to the numerous TVR's I've owned.

Don't regret it for a minute.

Couldn't agree more, the quality of both the cars and in particular the service I've recieved fom the dealers has been superb in my expierance.

As Tuan said, after 6 TVRs both my Ferraris have been superb.

I think a bit of patience and waiting for an 18mont old 612 is the way I'm headed.
