I know what your saying but having chatted to a few experts, they say a well looked after one should be fine. I too loved the Dino as a child and hadnt really considered it until I was lucky enough to drive one at a Maserati Track day at Goodwood last year, and I have never driven a more involving and enthralling car. I drove it at the same time a Maserati Indy and a Mistral which are both of the same era. The difference between them was astounding and you realised why everyone raved about the Dino at the time. Somehow the lack of speed compared to a modern car didnt matter. If I got the Dino I would still have my RS6 so the speed drug would still be available to me!
Thanks for the mostly kind words. I should have it at the weekend so I will post some pics asap. I cant see it being too fragile as it had a full bare metal rebuild 4 years ago and the garage I am buying it from has enough confidence to give it a years warranty which I thought was pretty good. I know its not the same but I've used my Austin Healey regularly for the last 20 years including taking it to LeMans every year and as long as you look after it it is perfectly reliable and trustworthy. Also its £1,500 per year cheaper to insure than my Maserati so that should cover much of its costs!
Anyway it shouldnt cost me more to maintain than it will appreciate in value each year which is more than you can say for any modern Ferrari!

MMMmmmmm very tasty indeed!
- Deffo drive it as much as you can! I hate to see a good car boxed up in a garage!
Foxy x
Believe me I wont as I dont beleive in 'garage queens'.
Anyway I picked it up last night. I had been pondering as to whether I was right to part with the Maserati, but the moment I drove it away all those fears washed away. The noise, the feel the looks are just fantastic.
I am a very happy man today

Simon,
I have had the car for nearly 18 months now and it is great.
I have had a few minor problems - brake caliper ceased, new alternator (upgraded) and an electrical short that was caused by the installation of the alternator. All of these faults were sorted without question under the one year warranty given to me by Foskers, from who I bought the car. You have to remember that it is a 30 year old car and therefore you cannot expect total reliability.
The car is a delight to drive, and the noise it makes at 7500 rpm (chain driven) is unbelievable. The balance is amazing and it corners on rails which is incredible for a car on such tall tyres.
I have the GTS which is to me the best experience and once it is warmed up you can easily drive it around on a cold day with the roof off and not get cold.
It is plenty fast enough for todays roads, and the performance is so useable that it will keep up with most things on normal and twisty roads.
Mine is definately not a garage queen and has been used regularly through summer and winter (except on the roads when salted)
If you are seriously looking for a Dino then there appear to be two real specialists in Dino - Foskers in the south and Nick Cartwright in the North.

Hi Mal
Yes,
Picked it up last Friday. Great fun. Spent the weekend cruising around Oxfordshire, it was a real blast. Needs some running in due to a recent engine rebuild so only sampled her up to 4500.
She looks so cute. In the paddock at Silverstone on Sunday for the BRSCC meet she was amongst a host of over Ferraris, 360's etc, yet she was the one getting all the attention. Something to get used to I guess.
Picking her up tomorrow for a trip down to Brighton. Hopefully the weather will hold!
How are you getting on with yours?
Good news, I hope you enjoy it. It would be good to meet up one day as so far I have not met anyone else with a Dino.
My car is doing fine, it needs its annual service and preparation for LeMans in June so I will be booking it in at Foskers soon
Great Stuff. I did not see one other Dino last year so your right there wont be many. If you pop over to Ferrari chat they are organing a Ferrari meet on Friday am which will be close to the PH one so maybe we could meet up there.

Maison Blanche is still outside the track, but inside the boundary. All you need is the general entry ticket.
As for crossing to the inside of the circuit, within the viewing area there are three tunnels and one bridge. They are apparently modifying the tunnels so it may be different this year.
As the circuit is so big there are public roads within the track which you can use on until Friday, but during the race access is restricted.
PS - Lovely Day - I've brought the Dino to work today - so I can pop out and look at it when I get bored.
