Prepare to explode.

I've just got off the phone from Von Thomassino who has an acquaintance resident in the fair village of Bruntingthorpe.

This person claims to know the single individual directly responsible for igniting the whole anti-proving ground issue.

It should come as no surprise to any of us to discover the person is new to the village.

The person is 'against noise.'

The person has complained and sought action against a neighbouring dog which had the bare snouted audacity to bark.

The person is an employee of the local council.

...excuse me, a small trickle of blood has just emanted from one of my nostrils...

no surpise to be honest...

Its the same around here with Castle Combe - there were 2 people that have pretty much killed GT racing at the track, who have lived their less than 2 years..

With a socalist goverment, is it any surprise any complaining muppet can get anything shut down...

One more thing.....

"The person" allegedly had his new 6ft brick wall (great for noise reduction) flattened by some chap pulling out of Brunters rather enthusiastically recently.

From what I've been told, this chap isn't the most popular resident in the village, either.

What a shambolic state of affairs.

Evidently not.

What on earth makes folk like this tick?

I suppose it's a similar mindset to that positively celebrated by Hattersley on QT last week, whereby getting things 'banned' is a notch on one's bedpost, as it were.

The likely only 'conquests' such turnip buggerers can thrust into reality.

You have to literally hate bastards like this: TOTAL communists.

Strangely, I would put money on it being the same thing that makes the gangs of chavs tick...

Or more specifically, bullys tick...

Its the power over other people, nothing more - its middle class bullying - rather than flushing their head down the toilet, you stop them being able to get their extension, or force them to cut down their trees...

...or, stop people being able to pay money and experience the last place where you can legally enjoy driving enthusastically...

I've got some acoustic material which at 6mm thick has the acoustic properties of 1ft of Concrete.

Shall we send him a hat?

Alternatively, I can be there with a Blue Circle wagon at 8am tommorow.

Either way is fine with me...

So perhaps 'the person' has more of a issue with the way cars are driven out from the Bruntingthorpe entrance/exit rather than the noise around the proving ground?

Perhaps talking out of turn, as I've never been to Brunters, but do groups leave/arrive together and would it be fair to say that if a group of cars left together, the driving and hence noise, might be a little more 'spirited' than individual cars running on tickover past his/her front garden?

Might be a suggestion that one could make to Council, to directly address this resident's concern, that all drivers will tootle into Brunters at no more than idle.

If 'the person' is a bully - then he'd/she'd feel that they'd won if they got this implimented!!

Just a thought.

The 'individual' lives down near the far end of the runway, you'd have to be giving it some to crash into his wall.

Is that the top corner end at the start of the run? Might be better if we ran the other way?

Put a whole different level of complexity to botton bend

scratchchin If he works for the council, can this not be seen as "insider trading" type ethics ... using his position for personal gain, i.e buying a house cheap based on the noise, knowing that he has the wherewithal to stop the noise, hence increasing the value of his house.

Might be worth a punt to the local paper.

Bloody mind boggling that it's a new arrival who complains.

Is there not scope for a forced buyout and the founding of a V-Max clubhouse - post V-Max BBQ, etc? Anyone have an idea how big the house is and what order of price?

This poor deluded soul has no idea whats about to hit in early May
The Avro Vulcan XH558 which is resident at Brunters starts it's flight trials. Which will include hours of engine runs, brake tests (done from take off speeds) and ultimately flight tests .
I think that it would be fun to camp outside this individuals house whilst all this goes on. Hopefully the embolism that'll occur when this individual realises he cant do a damn thing about it will be awesome to watch.
Also when she's fully certified and is performing in airshows every weekend
an unsilenced TVR,Porsche etc is going to sound like an ant farting.

Recently I was lucky enough to be in the new Fearnsports Silverstone Bunker
when a full race 911 GT2 (virtually unsilenced) was fired up. Believe me this thing was quiet in comparison to the Vulcans awesome elephantine howling Olympus noise. You VMax boys would be well impressed with a vehicle that can rattle windows from 20 miles away!!!!

Remember there are probably only a handful of things that are any noisier than a vulcan on it's take off run they are 1, the space shuttle 2,Rockwell B1-B 3,then probably the Vulcan.

Hopefully the tin triangle will cause a white flag to fly above this nimbys
house!!

See you all soon
Regards Rob
