Rather than one person take the burden, how about a small group of us get together to cobble something up?

It could be no more than finding a decent enough camping field with facilities, and just reserve 100 or so pitches, with a pay on the gate. Or a more detailed event with a Marquee, bar & band, which would need a fair bit more organisation, and proper accounting/payment, not to mention some sort of commercial liability cover.
Sounds good to me. I'll gladly help out if necessary.

So when is it this year chaps?!

Mrs e & I want to come and slum it with the people who can't afford BTaP.

:runs:
Apparently something might be organised in the summer. When it will be too late. frown

If we want a gathering of the faithful this year, we're going to have to improvise and set it up on our own I think.
Sounds good to me. Anyone put any plans in motion?
I'll book knockhill but nobody seems to like that idea for some reason confusedhehe

Mmm... my access needs include a profiling ('hospital') bed, a hoist, an alternating dual-cell air mattress, adapted toilet seat and shower cradle and the support of two people 24 hours a day, currently.
Okaaaaay. In that case I retract my previous comment. I mean, I know hotels are well equipped but perhaps not to that extent. smile

Sorry to learn that you now need that level of care. frown

So long as it's a nice big fat one with beer, who cares! wink

OK chaps, shall we assume that we go the simple route, nothing too complex?

So, we need a location, and to pick a month. Ideally a car/motor sport related event adjacent if possible

Shall we go with that first, then move on, as & when we have a general consensus?

June or July would be good.

July has moto GP at donny, August has britcar 24 but there is nowhere to camp within silverstone. Surely there will be some sort of touring car event on somewhere june/July/August.

There is a good private camp site not far from Donington circuit, and they have a large separate field.

But would we be interested in the Moto GP, or just the PF crack? It may be busy.

I know I would personally and looking at the donny site you can buy tickets in advance or on the day.

I'd be very happy to go with the Moto GP, although frankly the company and the beers is the main part for me.

There is the Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel Campsite, right at the circuit, but they only have 60 official pitches and we will have no chance of a large group as it will get booked up and packed out for the Moto GP well in advance.

May I suggest the campsite a bit further up the road, that was used last year by myself, cooky, jagdpanther and kirstysc.

The main part of the site is small, and for 'normal' caravans, motorhomes etc, in two well manicured areas set around an old farmyard and outbuildings. But they do have the adjacent field which is large and a free for all when there are events on at Donington. Facilities are minimal though, only one loo and basin, shower. Wholly inadequate for sure biggrin

I could pop over and discuss having a private area reserved for us.

Hill Farm Camping & Caravan Park
Hill Farm, Moor Lane, Barrow-on-Trent
Derby DE73 7HH
Tel. 01332 705165

Field with the trees in the middle is visible here, to the right of Moor Lane, just north of the farmhouse, above the pointer arrow...

I would be up for an un-official PF, as long as it's in the summer and somewhere pleasant.

If there does turn out to be an official PF, announced in the summer, for somewhere cold and windy in the autumn, they can consider themselves sidelined.
clap

Isnt it UK BOB we need to be asking. remember PH at Cadwell. it was cool.
it worked and it was very clicky. even if the Bentley did get doughnutted.

glad you enjoyed the recommendation smile

This was the big field a couple of years ago

I remember when we stayed - it was during a music festival in Derby (Bloodstock) and there was a few of us camping. The owner did say they could bring in a portaloo.
These dont have to be the site type loos you see at feastivals
