Bah humbug, looks like I'm not going to be able to go due to lack of funds.

I'd be up for moto GP. I'm definetly a car driver, but the old man who's a biker got me into watching the racing at which point it very quickly took over my life! I've planned holidays around moto gp weekends so I don't miss it!

Any news on what's going on this year?

I'm home in May/June and was hoping there would be a PistonFest, but alas, nowt seems to be happening this year!

Events have to be organised months in advance, and also publicised months in advance if attendees are expected to have their diaries clear, so it's fair to summise that the chances of an official PistonFest this year are extremely low.

I do think that it would be polite and reasonable for PistonHeads to make an an official announcement that there are no plans for an official PistonFest this year though, and stop the speculation.

Thanks for the confirmation Ted, it allows us to make our own plans with certainty at least.

And why, when this thread has been asking since last August, has it taken until now to get an answer?

PistonFest has always been an event 'in the balance'.

The first year was a great success, but subsequent events never lived up to it. Each year I had to make a call as to whether to run it. I didn't in 2005, tried Snet in 2006 with limited success and when Haymarket took over they decided to try it in 2007 (I wouldn't have run 2007 if I still owned PH then).

Roll on 2008 and it was decided to run the track evenings with BBQ after as PH meets this year. Granted, this isn't the same as a 'fest, but that's where we're at.

As to why this wasn't communicated on this thread, I don't know.

Warren and the lord had numbers for that place near donny. I probably won't be going to any events planned this year due to a severe lack of funds.

Field with the trees in the middle is visible here, to the right of Moor Lane, just north of the farmhouse, above the pointer arrow...

if a large group is going, then a portaloo would have to be arranged, as there is only one loo (with a shower... and a load of dog food for the owners lovely & friendly dog)

ETA - i believe there is a couple of electric hook up at one end of the field - for those with caravans/motorhomes - or just for providing lighting for a portaloo

Ted - hope you don't mind this?

Right you lot

If anyone is interested in camping for the Moto GP the weekend on 20th/21st/22nd June, please email me via my profile, by next Wednesday (for initial numbers!).

I just need numbers of potentially interested parties - no need for definate numbers yet.

Please let me know in your email :-

Your PH Id, your email address and the number of people and any children coming (as this will be per person per night event).

To give you a rough idea of cost - less than a night at the cinema each (I hope) biggrin To include pitch, beer tent hire, and our own latrines & showers (which we will hire)

EVERYTHING else you will have to bring/pay for yourselves - entry to the GP, food, beer etc....
