Nice way to start a Sunday, many thanks BMW and the organisers from PH.

I spent Saturday cleaning/waxing the car and was pleased to see so many people taking photos of it at the meet, although now looking at the photos above I realise they weren't taking photos of my anonymous (but shiny)3 series but of the bright yellow Ultima parked next to me! biggrinwink

As for the "leaving antics", I can see both sides of the argument, GTR doing 4 passes was excessive (and would attract police attention) but the other cars leaving and giving it beans while pulling away wasn't any big deal.

Even that rather loud GTR was put in the shade later in the day though at Farnborough Airshow by a few fighter jets, now they did put the performance of some of the cars into perspective!

Really enjoyed my first pistonheads meet. The sun came out for a roof down trip home in the Z4MR.

I will be honest from a spectators point of view, listening to some of the nice motors leave was a bonus on top of the nice morning of talking to friendly like minded car holics. The organisation of the meeting was superb and I enjoyed watching some cars drive off, even though there were those who lowered the tone of the meet by acting like hooligans.

It's been said before that the Clio bouncing off the rev limiter, jap chaps trying to drift and the R35 was not in the usual fashion of a pistonheads meeting, you can't just moan about them in particular. In the brief period where I went to see what all the commotion was about, I saw a yellow M3 hooning it up and down, then leaving some black 11's by the roundabout, there was also 2 x bmw 5 series trying to get it sideways on the roundabout amongst public traffic and a leon cupra R leaving black rubber too. It seems that not every marquee acted like an angel on this meet, so to pick on a certain few cars is slightly unfair imo.

I also notice that a lot of people rag the nuts out of their cold engines leaving??

I'll update with photos from my phone later, but here is a video of the White GTR on a flyby, I only caught one of his "circuits", so didn't know he was being a tool and repeating it when I was filming.

Epic noise, sounds like a jet from 40seconds in.

I only saw the GTR and the other Nissan - there's certainly no marque victimisation going on. I also agree that a bit of vigorous right foot on departure is fine, however turning a section of road into a circuit with roundabout drifting is just stupid, and likely to attract entirely the wrong sort of attention.

We've been running these events successfully for some time and they've got to a size where we really need the co-operation of manufacturers to get legitimate access to as much space as we need, let alone the nice add-ons of metal to gawp at and bacon butties to munch on. All we ask is that you leave the event with some consideration for the general public and our hosts, and for what both will think of PistonHeads as a result. Not that much to ask really, is it?

Chaps, let's be clear here as I think there is some confusion. We appreciate that an 'enthusiastic' departure from the venue is to be expected at any car meet, and at PistonHeads meets too. A car leaving with some noise is nice to see/ hear and adds to the day.

What we (not just us here at PHHQ, but PHers in general) don't expect is for Sunday Service attendees to do anything that might affect our ability to host future meets at manufacturer venues. That include public road drifting, multiple laps to show us how fast your car is or general bad driving (as demonstrated perfectly by the chap in the Clio). In fact, one or two of the owners have admitted their mistakes and get a thumbup from us for being big enough to do so

We aren't killjoys and we aren't trying to lay down the law, all we ask you to consider is that PH meets are free, we are guests of the venue owners and we do not attract the attentions of the police/ local press. Let's all do our best to keep it that way, and leave the heroics to somewhere else when leaving a meet that has the PistonHeads name attached to it.

I think it's time to draw a line under what happened, enjoy the pictures and remember that 99.9% of the meet was absolutely perfect. All we ask is that you remember what has been said for the next meet, as that will help us to continue hosting them for you for years to come.

Wow very impressed Garlick has enrolled some Extra Terrestrials to help out yikes

Another very well organised PH event, brought a friend along for his first visit, having told him about all the exotica that turn up.
Where were the Lambos, didn't see one and usually Ferraris are as thick as fleas on a cat, saw 2 confused

Lets hope the Chavs and boy racers realise they are not welcome at the next PH meet smash

I smell a conspiracy biggrin

Seriously, both of you have put it across very well. Great event, and to carry on having more means we have to respectful of the environment and to be be seen as responsible & sporting (unlike what happened at Hockenheim!!).

Great event yesterday, it was our first pistonheads one, loved it. There were some awesome and very rare cars on display. Shame the evo played up when we left though.:-(

Whens the next one? :-)

and nobody has mentioned the loos yet.
Dodgy looking portacabin from the outside, but surprisingly plush on the inside.
I was pleasantly surprised.

Looking forward to the Rolls Royce day in August, and I hope the parking isn't as biased this time around (but thats probably just sour grapes as I had to park about three carparks away last time)

OK, OK, I'm sorry, I confess. I was the dastardly driver in the White Nissan Silvia S14a who got a bit tail happy when leaving the meet (and might i add a very good meet at that, Mclaren F1!!!!!) so thought I'd make an appearance upon finding this thread to post up and apolagise.
I was egged on by a few people at the meet and at the time I refused, but peer pressure got the best of me and I did give the clutch a little kick coming off the roundabout, nothing too extreme I thought but obviously unnecessary none the less.
This was my first meet and at the time I didn't think it would cause such comosion. I'd also like to add I am in no way a 'chav' and once again I apolagise and hope to be welcomed to the next meet (obviously in a straight line)
Thanks

Thanks for stepping up yes

We will be happy to welcome you to the next meet, and I'm sure you can understand why we are keen to avoid unecessary exposure to our meets - it's nice being welcomed back to interesting, free venues!

See you at a future meet, and thanks again.
