Will be a great chance to see all the PH Driving Gods making fools of themselves
FBLOL!! I'll be one of them with a group of mates, hoping & praying not to come to any harm! We're booked into a non-PH session that's running in the morning, because we paid up about 3 weeks ago from the Silverstone web site before this was announced. Looking forwards to it!!!
You can hire helmets for 10 quid on the day according to the Silverstone site: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/track/track-club/

Would take my Mini on track but suspect I could be a massive liability with a 998 engine
If everyone else and you follow the drivers etiquette in the briefing you'll be fine. I'm sure everyone else will play by the rules and I'm equally sure that marshal's will be enforcing the rules rigorously. It'll be disappointing if people don't behave and make lower power vehicles or novices feel uncomfortable. It says on the Silverstone website there will be free instruction on familiarisation laps for first timers. I'm guessing/hoping as there are normal Taster sessions running all morning that this will be available?
Generally speaking, do people do track days uninsured?
I'm in the MX-5 and going with JeronH, already excited to have a enormous and hugely expensive accident in front of the PH fraternity.

Perhaps I am just scared of taking a 40bhp car on track for my first time on track ...I would bring my Golf GTI but its a bit boring (and crap) to take to a Sunday Service!

Bringing a Golf GTI Pirelli myself, but I'm not offended! I would bring my Golf GTI but its a bit boring (and crap) to take to a Sunday Service!
Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBFjHjm0O5M
I don't think you'll need to touch the brakes and the mini is fine handling car!

Running 230bhp so quick in a straight line but really is a barge in the corners...
And yes I have seen that! I may apply then
Do you need a helmet? Think I have one from when I used to have a 125cc motorbike but not sure if it has to be anything special
Also worried about the noise limits what is 102db like in terms of a production car? As my mini does make a racket!
