I'm not the list, but still debating taking my car down the strip - the MR2 isn't really about straight line speed, but it is something I've always wanted to do.
Will helmets be needed for going down the strip?
Rule of thumb at Pod is helmet required for all open top vehicles & also for tin topWill helmets be needed for going down the strip?
Vehicles with a +100mph terminal speed.
Shorts are not allowed & you also need to wear a long sleeved top in open top vehicles.

110mph and faster helmets are required.
The difference between the two is quite substantial. You will be given one free pass if you exceed 110 and will then be asked to either buy one on site or find one before completing any more runs.

Never seen anyone give out a "free pass" for exceeding 110mph.
I certainly didn't get given one last season when I did a 10.2 @ 131mph.
I did wear a helmet though

What's the age limit for passengers?
I'll double check, but I believe it is 16. I'll also ask about the helmet situation.(All of which will also be confirmed in the joining instructions sent out before the event)
Thanks

No, I barely get there... But I do like to run in a National drag racing championship at both Santa Pod at Shakespeare County raceway, so I'm pretty clued up on it. Never seen anyone give out a "free pass" for exceeding 110mph.

You get one free pass at going over 110mph if you turn up and don't know what your car does. At the top end the marshals will tell you that you either need to buy a helmet from the Pod shop or find one to wear if you want to do any more runs that day.
A lot of you guys can save yourself asking questions by visiting the the Run What Ya Brung website. Not only are all the rules available but there is also a good video that'll help everyone speed up the running of the day. Tips like not rolling through the bleach box and how to stage your car properly.

As has been mentioned, all of the information on http://www.rwyb.co.uk/rules.php is correct and up to date.
Quick answers though:
- Passengers need to be 17+
- Helmets are only needed if your car reaches 110mph+ (they're available to buy on site... probably best to bring your own if you have one!)
- All parking is on hard standing.
Cheers

You're quite right it's 110mph (I may be showing my age as I thought it used to be 100..)You get one free pass at going over 110mph if you turn up and don't know what your car does. Should be a cracking day.
Although 110mph terminal to need a helmet, I was told by staff I should get one for next time with speeds of 106mph to 109mph last time I went. To be fair its surely a good idea at any speed.
Quite a while since I last went 2008.
