James told me that I had been pointed as one of the 'Loud' cars as well..(SL55), but It came right at the end of the day, so all the fun had been had (?)already.

Still, It was worth it as most peolpe really seemed to enjoy my glorious V8 soundtrack..it is like the God of Thunder gargling with rusty nails!!

Indeed it was at the end of the day so it did not really matter very much. But, you have to ask yourself about the next VMAX. What's going to happen then ?

maybe a cat bypass switch (i have one in my cayenne turbo) is the answer....then you can go from civilized to OH MY F--ING GOD!! at the push of a button...

Tell me more: I'd not noticed that in the Father in Laws Cayenne Turbo - where do I find this glorious switch?

Fair points all, but I do wonder that had some of these cars had their throttles opened to the correct mark as requested by the rather attractive noise lady, how many would have actually been allowed to run? If her decision had then been rigourously enforced, would we all have been going home early? I also fear for the future of VMAX, should this become standard procedure at all future events as I should imagine that it will become even more policed in the future.

FWIW, I think the owner gave VMAX as much rope as he could and then decided that enough was enough for the louder cars.

I really hope that it's not going to get to the point, whereby the only runners and riders are in hairdressers cars like mine.

What exactly are the noise regulations?

98db standing and ?? at driveby.

A cat bypass switch ? On an Esprit ? This is a car that uses an upside down coat hanger to open and close the bonnet !!!

To be fair Adrian, despite it sounding glorious your car does have straight through pipes, something which you actually told the owner.

True, I did. I have to say I have no conception of what is considered loud on a dB scale and what is not. If you where to ask me the dB level of my car I'd have no idea at all.

I might be getting a bit upset because it may be loud but it's perfectly legal for the road ( passed it's MOT two weeks ago ) so why is it too loud for a track ? I'm only looking at it from a logical point of view, not a technical one.

Guys,

I was there in the afternoon and caught the backend of the noise issues. I was a passenger in the 360 CS and got clocked at 103 DB on the drive by.

I feel sorry for Snuffy in the Lotus because rumour has it someone told the owner to F*** off just before he got told to leave the track.

Reading all the posts I understand the issues at the circuit and the pressures they are under but I think it's important a clear line is drawn before the next event.

I'm hoping to bring my 360 to the event and first question Craig asked was 'is the exhaust standard'. I also heard a stock 911 turbo failed the static test.

Biggest worry is that some exotic motors won't make the next VMAX for fear of getting booted off which is just bad for the event.

I think Craig did a good job of trying to keep everyone happy but there's only so much he can do.

That was me in the turbo with bog standard everything. A better method of noise testing is needed. I was going to bring my noise meter but forgot. The version and the method of use/interpritation of reading was interesting!

If this is true then the person should be banned.

Sign of the times I'm afraid guys. This will happen every time from now on so you have to get used to it.

The standard exhaust will be going on my Exige for the next one.

It could be worse, when you drive Castle Combe you get some old bloke in an anorack noise testing your car not some fit young blonde with a rather acceptable ar5e

You mentioned you had a noise tester. Are they accurate? How much £'s and where from.

Daz you can hire them for a few days from www.bookatrack.com for about a tenner. They are the same ones as used by most tracks themselves so are pretty accurate.

I gotta say that the one they used yesterday looked like it had seen better days.

Like in the 2nd world war.

I know this will sound stupid but the owner wasn't really standing out from the crowd. When we were in the CS he came over and we just spotted the logo on his fleece otherwise we would assumed it was fellow VMAXer.

Still no excuse for being to rude to him but it works both ways and if he told Snuffy to F*** of he is just as guilty.

Craig, is this noise limit the same during the week, i.e. is it not more draconian on Sundays? If not, maybe scope to do a VMax on a Friday or a Monday to get round the limitations? Just a thought.

I must say, that the testing of the cars was all done very nicely, there was flexabilty. I was told mine was just under the limit, and could I not just go round and round from the off.

I did just that, waited for a bit and then had a run. Unfortunaly due to an alternater fault, I did just the one run, but, I respected the ladies wishes and it all seemed to be ok.

For me, I will just put some silencer on the back for the next one. There are not too many events that we can all so this, it would be a shame to screw this up.

Just my 2pence worth
