I've e-mailed .Mark - I know he spends more time on the TVRCC forums these days.

I've done the route for several years now...with one year off done by DustyC. We can enjoy one of our old standards or find something new. Is anyone interested in route scouting?

I've some personal issues at the moment that mean my spare time is rather limited - so volunteers would be welcome.

The event last year was Sunday 4th September.

Don I am happy to do some scouting. Does the run have to start from Basingstoke? I live over in Haslemere and could work something from Guildford to Hayling.

Having looked at peoples comments and dates I would suggest Sunday 17th September.

No - it doesn't. However we do have a tradition of starting at the Basingstoke Leisure Centre which does have the advantage of being easy to find with a large car park. Given that last year around 50 cars came this is something of a requirement! So if you really want to scout a route think of the requirements of a "convoy" of between thirty and fifty cars.

It would also be good to have a half way stop and rest point different to the "Seven Stars" pub - they've been most accomodating in the past and let us stop there so long as we're away before their customers arrive - but all said and done a different stop might be good.

Also traditionally I have done a web page with an itinery and schedule with maps! I can do this again - but if anyone fancies taking the job on I'd be happy to hand over the images/pages I've been modifying and updating these last few years.

I'm not trying to get out of any organisation BTW! More than happy...its just that with a lot of my spare time taken up these days its harder for me to do all the things I've done in previous years...

i think the 17th of september is best, the schools are back then and it doesnt clash with brighton speed trials. the old route is a classic and it does take in some great roads

The 17th would be brilliant as the 27th of August clashes with Wings and Wheels at the Dunsfold Aerodrome (Top Gear Test Track). I haven't been on the POTB Run for ages as it's always clashed with the Le Surrey Run. We'll try and fit in whenever.
Cheers

what time does this usually go on till? I'll be driving up from the south coast of France on the 17th very early in the morning. If it lasts till early evening, might just make it!

Which route was that, then?

POTB1: Basingstoke, Alton, Selborne, Twisties, Hayling Island.
POTB2: Same.
POTB3: Basingstoke, A30, Winchester, DustyC B road Special, Seven Stars, A272, Twisties, Hayling Island.
POTB4: Basingstoke, A30, Winchester, A272 (God's own road), Seven Stars, A272, Twisties, Hayling Island.

So I view 1&2 as being the "classic" route..."3" as DustyC's clever invention and 4 as the recent one! Oh...and quite a few PHers did (4) the year we were doing (3) anyway!
