Rallye des Jonquilles 2014
Discussion
Had a great few days in France. We were on the money for the Rallye itself until the alternator main feed fractured towards the end of the first stage. We fixed it by the roadside with some assistance from the locals and then went straight to the lunch break missing out stage 2. We had to leave pretty quick at the end so as to catch the train but we ended up missing it while waiting to go through passport control (3/4 hr to clear UK Border controls!)
A great weekend. As has been said, thanks to Ben for bringing it all together, the pointers on what to do and his attempts to bring back orange driving gloves!
Here's a link to my photos on Flickr, about 30 photos (with some Porsche bias), sadly I wasn't paying enough attention and took too many pointing into the sun, which have been lost (I could just about make out Lee's TVR in one).

A few samples. The Porsche lineup at the start...
Turbo 2 was epic and the Alfa was driven by the most impatient man in France - followed him for a while, very twitchy.
Random selection - that Dart looked fantastic.
I had a great time on the first stage with the Carrera - following each other down the windy roads, we swapped places a few times due to nav errors (overshot junctions). This 944 seemed to be pulled up a fair amount with smoking coming from the driver's side...
I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did, sorry I didn't get to talk to more of you.
So, who will be going back for more?

I'm glad everyone new to this type of thing enjoyed themselves.
The weather was superb, great cars, great food, great beers, great people.
I'm going to go large on this next year if anyone's up for it: early trip down - booze up in Le Touquet - night at The Westminster - rally - massive night on the lash wherever it is next time.

What a brilliant weekend - huge thanks to Ben for "getting it out there" and all his advice pre-event.
Even bigger thanks to Bruno and all the "Ecurie" - everything ran very smoothly, always a sign of how much hard work has been put in before the event starts.
Good job we left early as we only just made our allotted train time due to (as has been said) the huge queues at passport control. The only upside of course is that we just drove straight off at the other end unlike when you get off the ferries !!! We got home at 11pm.
Really good to meet you all and put faces to names. We will definitely be up for an extended weekend next year !!!!!!!

Can I say what a great weekend we had on this event, & express our thanks to Bruno & Jean Pierre (& anybody else involved) for their superb organisational efforts.
My 1965 Elan completed the rally without any problems (i.e. nothing fell off or broke - despite the rough French back roads) until we were entering the Place des Heros when the battery went flat as the alternator had stopped working. However, it only needed a push for a few yards to get us into a parking space (thanks guys) an hour with a charger in the tourist centre (many thanks to Don Gray for the loan of the charger - hope that it was delivered back to you ok) & we were on our way & arrived back in the UK on Monday evening no problem.
On the journey home we visited the Canadian War Memorial site at Vimy Ridge - very moving.
Met a lot of very nice people, & made very welcome by the locals in Arras & elsewhere.
The food, beer & wine were pretty good too!

PS - Anybody visiting Arras must see the amazing market in the Place des Heros & La Grand Place & surrounding streets on Saturday morning.

Hi Rich
Just read your write up and it's great, it was a crazy weekend and reading that has made me want to do it all over again!
Slightly off topic but I have your business card on my desk at work and you'll be disappointed to hear that I am failing one of the motortrend rules by having my cerbera detailed this weekend... I will have to set aside some time to redeem myself
Anyway it was great to meet you and everyone else on the Rallye and I'm looking forward to the next one!
Cheers
Lee

Sunday 12th April - I did the event last year and really enjoyed it. The web site is not updated yet but I believe it is based around Air sur la Lys
Hello Tony, I was sat next/near to you at lunch last year. Hope all is well.Yep, that was the word from Bruno. 50/50 whether I'll be there again this year but hoping so.
