Seeing the XKR boil its brake fluid was entertaining, and a prize also goes to that for the biggest smokiest spin!
Why thank you

Did you get a picture? There seemed to be quite a few snappers at that bend.

Alternatively, anyone in the Evesham area is more than welcome to turn up at my house and take me for a run in exchange for some coffee/beer/hospitality!

Well chaps I was stunned at what a fantastic day it was. Everyone without exception was good natured, friendly and had incredible generosity of spirit. A credit to your discipline and organisation Craig. Long may it continue.

So - to my own particular thank-yous. Greg and Em for being such exceptional hosts for breakfast. It actually took me 'til lunchtime to work out that the lovely Emma at breakfast was the same one as the determined single minded steely-eyed lady behind the wheel at Bruntingthorpe. You go girl!! <girlymomentalert> Incidentally, what's the handwash in your cloakroom? It smells divine.

Thanks to the pilots of my various passenger rides. In no particular order - Guy, bloody hell that is one extreme machine. Couldn't understand before the run why getting the harness on right was such a big deal. I know now Wish I'd got video of your hands when we went round those bends.

Dazren. Well firstly, what a car! Secondly, knowing how little I know about the Porsche marque, how refreshing to have you explain how the car was behaving and why without a hint of patronage or condescension. You should give lessons in that, it's rare indeed. Can't wait 'til the next time.

Derestrictor. Truly a gentleman. And absolutely right, Porsches are not boring!!! Took me 5 minutes to stop laughing when I got out, and the grin didn't fade for about an hour.

And finally, Zee for making me get out of my pit and turn up, and all the usual suspects whose company and conversation turned a petrolhead day in to a fine event. You might conclude I enjoyed myself.

I feel a challenge for the bends and stopping power at the next vmax.

I liked the description of your tyres!

It was me. You were in the Black Tuscan, right?

I was taking it easy. Really!

....Should have seen me on the way up. Completely smoked a very tuned Scooby with a silly reg plate on the A34!! Is he a pistonhead?

I think frightened is somewhat of an understatement, I think my exact words were "f**k, I knew I should have got track day insurance" :-)

Sorry I couldn't make it people - glad you all had a good time.
Next one.

Damned shame you couldn't make it Justin. You were missed. Nothing serious I hope.
Nope - just a leaky actuator on the turbo meaning I am seriously down on power at the moment - but to find it they took most of the rear end off the car (tis easier to work on) and hence it would have cost me a fortune to get it all put back together just for the run (and it's probably not sensible to run it).

Unfortunatly I rather cocked up on the time required to service the car - the parts still haven't turned up today.

I'll be at the next one!

Nice to see you too Corrine. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Emma CAN drive that car bloody well, it has been remarked upon. She is booking some further tuition later this year to allow her to explore the limits of the cars handling - any ideas, folks? Thanks to Uncle Jezza and Big Alex the Lizard for some excellent in car advice on how to attack the curves. She sure did, by all accounts!

The handwash FYI is Molton Browns "Naran Ji"

Cheers,

For fairly extreme stuff (read - replace tyres afterwards ) try Don Palmer. Otherwise Andy Walsh at 1st Lotus (www.1stlotus.com) has a great reputation for helping you to explore handling limits and Simon Mason (www.simonmason.com) is apparently a very good track instructor (he is available at most BookaTrack days).

Cadence Driver Development (www.cadence.uk.com) can provide a variety of courses, but my understanding is that they are more tailored to on road driving.

I'm sure Emma would have a great time at a track day, and learn loads: let me know if you plan to do one and I'll try and come along.

Sorry about that! Did it look horrible, as I was the other side of 100mph and I thought I caught it quite well!!

You did, you caught it very well - but anyone going sideways in front of my pride & joy tends to make me a bit jittery :-)

I'd already had a near miss coming up the M1 with an RX-8, he overtook me, pulled into the middle lane and had a blowout - his tyre came flying towards my windscreen at 100mph. Brown trousers time there no question!

Quite a jumpy day all in all really. Keeps the cobwebs clear though.

Fantastic
