As DeR says, the banana would need much more fire power to keep with with a RUF'ed 996.
To explain the high-ish boost numbers mentioned. The mapping on my car by RS Tuning has an overboost feature where by upon mashing the throttle once the boost hits its average peak value (1.0 - 1.1 bar in lower gears, 1.1 bar to 1.2 bar in higher gears) dependent on the many variables read by the ecu, the ecu allows the engine to over boost for a few secs before bringing the boost back down to the average peak reading. I have found you get the most over boost when you are crusing along steay state and then drop a cog or two and floor it, since the engine is 'cooler' and hence can 'take' more boost before calling time.
The best reading so far is 1.45 bar in 5th, which to be honest felt like it was going to take off
Also, the uber 993 mentioned is by far the most ferocious thing I have ever had the good fortune to drive.

Hi
Noise limits are done at 2/3 of max revs (so 6000 redline = 4000 revs for test)
They should be done at 1/2 metre from exhaust tips and level with tips...
Thats assuming its as per blue book etc....like normal trackdays...
Mine is done at 4500 revs (6375 red line) and is 115 DB
So like a lot of others I cannot be even considered....
I am also getting extremely annoyed about these noise limits....and when I get annoyed I tend to do things....so am now considering ..contacting ANYONE with a long runway...to hire it for the NOISY ones...like me
Anyone interested ?....lets say ...ONLY for cars with 110 DB minimum noise...lol
All the best Brett

Most of us are getting down right ed off with government/courts meddling enabling councils to screw up events such as racing at Castle Coombe, VMAX at airfield venues etc.
If you do find any alternative venues with a reasonable surface, suitable for a VMAX type event then please do let us know. I'm sure the owners of noisy cars would be delighted and Craig would be happy to organise a noisy VMAX day somewhere.
cheers

PS - We prefer to stick details of our cars, what other forums we're on etc on our profiles rather than at the end of posts which I know is common on other sites. profile.

I thought it was 1/2 meter at a 45 degree angle?
Despite having a very nice ar5e the girl who did the sound metre the last time didnt really have a clue what she was doing (hence 2 360CS being allowed to run).
The noise meter they were using looked like something out of the war as well.
