Barge/Rant Thread Social Stuff
Discussion
OK. We usually meet on a Thursday; firstly because Thursday is generally office drinkies night, but also because it fits with other stuff various attendees do during the week.
So, we could have it on the 20th, but we will lose a couple of people who are considerably more interesting than me (which is everyone).
On the other hand, making these things accessible to those people who go out of their way to come along has to be worthwhile - so let's run with it

Stuff update for all:
Next Thread beers is on Weds 20th June in Mayfair - I'll start a list closer to the time.
BBQ - as Dan announced^^
Also, as he mentioned, there's a closed FB group for bona fide Thread/Barge/Rant followers - do drop me a PM as you click 'Join', so I can associate PH username with real-life FB name
Well, if people manage to avoid being swept away - whether here in the summery UK or in that muddy Le Mans - Mayfair Beers for the regular The Thread Night Out is once again upon us.
Usual venue - Coach & Horses in Hill Street, just off Berkeley Square, from 5.30pm on Wednesday 20th June.

I know Dan can't make the Weds either.
Now I just don't know what to do
I hate the fact that so many Threadists can't make social stuff by virtue of their geography, yet still have to put up with events being peddled in front of them; but balancing that with keeping things 'as usual' for the regulars.
Bugger

Dave, Arthur and all the regulars from The Winchester Club* are proud to sponsor Round 2 of The Thread Karting Challenge to be held on Sunday 14th October at Whilton Mill Kart Circuit.
Scroll back a page or two and you'll see that Round 1 in May saw a hotly contested scrap (for all positions other than first). But don't worry if you couldn't make it last time, as this 'championship' is open to all at every round and is, actually, just an excuse for larking about on a Sunday. You're very welcome to bring along non-PHers who fancy a bit of a race too; they were certainly made to feel very welcome last time.
I'm sure previous participants will confirm that it's a cracking circuit, with as many opportunities to nip past someone as there are to overcook it and end up grazing the vegetation. It's also very centrally located, just past Northampton on the M1, to afford as many of you as possible to the chance to join us.
Last time, post-race scoff was so bad it was hilarious (never decide to eat at a pub who say they can fit sixteen of you in with only 15 minutes notice on a Sunday!). If people can confirm their intention to stay for a bite to eat when they book, I'll make sure, with a bit of advance notice, that we get in at the nearby Beefeater for the regulation beefburgers.
The format of the day is (roughly):
10:45 Arrive (this bit isn't rough; it's precise! )
11:00 Briefing and issue of helmets and suits
11:15 Qualifying: 20 minute session to decide Race 1 grid order
11:40 Race 1: 20 minutes
12:00 Break
12:15 Race 2: 20 minute (with reverse grid from result of Race 1)
12:45 Results and presentations
13:00 End of session
If you're thinking of coming along and don't feel that an hour on track is very much, with very few exceptions I can confirm that most drivers last time were utterly knackered at the end.
The cost of the event is £73. I managed to book May's event at 2011 prices, but they've caught up with us this time, so the circuit cost has gone up from £65 to £70 per person. The other £3 is a contribution towards a nice trophy.
Please sign up below. I'll change the 'Paid' column once I have received your money. If you still have the payment details from last time, do pay me ASAP; if you didn't come last time, PM me and I'll provide payment account details.
Absolute latest date for payment is the 28th September.
So, get your name down!
*The Club has a discreet entrance; you could easily walk straight by. Drop me a PM if you're a FaceBookist and fancy a quiet repose therein.

During the main eight month karting season, they only have 3 weekends when the circuit isn't being used for championships.
