anyone know if theres any parking nearby and in walking distance?
there is a retail park very close by!The retail park is a good 10 minute walk
Just to add to this, there are 2 much more preferable ways to ensure more PHers get to enjoy our events and we need the community's help with both:
1) PLEASE only add your name to the calendar if you're absolutely, positively sure you can make it. If you have a change of circumstances, then remove your name as early as you can. We get a frankly unacceptable / unbelievable number of people claiming that they're suddenly unable to come on the Friday or Saturday night before the event. We need to all make it clear that this is not acceptable and means that - quite literally - hundreds of spaces are wasted each year at our events.
2) We get a lot of people that turn up in cars by themselves. That's fine, but it would be nice to see more people offering up their spare seats to PHers and this would also allow more people to attend the events!
Thanks everyone!

2.) I'm not spending Sunday afternoon cleaning slobber off the inside of my windows.
A genuine question, given the demand vs. supply for the event; is there a way of verifying those arriving on the day are actually those who've booked the spaces? Or am I looking for a problem that does not exist?

We tried it, but the effort / disruption seemed to outweigh the result. Equally, we it is worth remembering that we run these events on a not-for-profit basis, so any investment from our end in terms of either additional equipment or resources is tricky to justify. We are looking in to introduce a compulsory £5 per car charitable donation scheme in an effort to stop people just adding their names (and raising some money for a good cause), but being honest in the short term it would be nice if people just stopped being selfish and thoughtless and didn't just add their names to the list in the first place...

FWIW, I like the donation idea; provided making a payment is swift and easy I personally would not object.

I was thinking more along the lines of someone reading the names on the list and turning up claiming to be someone they're not.

Usernames are checked against a list.FWIW, I like the donation idea; provided making a payment is swift and easy I personally would not object.

(I didn't think the concept was that hard to grasp.)

Event specific PH windscreen labels are emailed out to those that make the cut on the Friday preceding the event. Makes it more difficult to blag your way in.Digga said:
