The public car parks they used today (near the main entrance) were fine.... hard surface etc. Some of the infield areas around the club car parks and trade areas are still very wet!

tell us about it our parking area more resembled a swamp than anything alse, not easy in a cob I can tell you.
Nice to see the vettes at Whittlebury Park though.

Just got back, great weekend! Weather was nice although camping was a bit wet on Saturday night. I recognise some of the motors around, that Black sting Ray vette parked on the straight down from the Group C stuff was absolutely stunning! I certainly remember the rumble around the campsite of that Black and silver vette of yours 1979, camped about 50 yards away (we were the only yellow tent in the field!) with a 911 twin Turbo, Boxter S and audi S6 outside. Some lovely Stratos parked on the Hill.

Group C stuff was nice, Derek Bell i think was driving a Fat Turbo 962 which was absolutely flying infront of the jags until a back marker and engine problems put him out, and the triple Rotary Mazda was deafening if not to quick.

A great weekend and warm up for Classic Le Mans 2008!

Excellent event, watched all the races on Saturday which were all very entertaining, these included 70s James Hunt Trophy F1 cars, Pre War Grand Prix racers, group C and even enjoyed a Porsche only race as it included a couple of flame spitting 935s!

Best part of the whole day for me was dusk Endurance Masters race which took place in pouring rain and failing light which made it even more exciting and atmospheric, Silk Cut Jaguars, GT40s and a variety of LM cars from different eras.

I hate to say it, but for me it knocked the Goodwood revival into a cocked hat! far better value for money, excellent facilities like lots of covered grandstands that were accessible to all ticket holders and decent toilets, pretty well free access to all areas and an excellent variety of races

935 Flame thrower!

Group C<

70s F1

Looks familiar....

Blimey it is Derek Bell!

Totaly Agree, nice photo ops as the fences were quite low in some areas, room to move and wander, lots of toilets whihc were in pretty good states and the beer was even reasonably priced and cold. A few dodgy phone snaps, when i plug the EoS in i will upload some high quality stuff.

I cannot get the pictures to work, will have ago tomorrow after some kip, the 3 guys i was with are all pretty handy with the old camera work and will have some nice stuff in good quality, i will try and get some of that on veiw tomorrow.

So much better than Goodwood and at half the price. Nice to see the griff 200 on the track.... for a while at least. Really felt for you cob owners in that field, but at least you wasn't right at the back like the TVRs! what a display you guys put on, you had a great turn out of fantastic cobras.

Superb weekend. Managed to get infield passes on all three days so no nine mile hike back to the car. Great racing with a super variety of machinery to look at. Group C Display was awesome.

Couple of niggles - thought the trade village was a bit on the small side and the catering .... well next year I'm avoiding the Scarf and Goggles.

My first time back in a few years, brilliant event but I agree with the previous comment about the trade stands, quite lacklustre by comparison with the earlier event but i am sure it'll get better. Beats the FoS IMHO but the Scarf and Goggles was good apart from the early closing!

Thats why I took in the gas stove and rustled up some top class burgers of my own. Also, for Scarf & Goggles we just took in our own wine & food to watch the Le Mans movie. Missed the GTP race though as we were huddled under a parasol trying to keep dry.

My only grumble was the pointless charade to get the 'classics' in to the infield. 99% of the people had car passes and entrance tickets, so why make us queue up, crawl in to Woodcote and then turn to go over Bridge, quite annoying. Also, don't change the schedule overnight and put the bikes on early, gutted I missed them on Saturday.

I thought the catering was good. We had a homemade filled chapati from an Indian chap in a van. Absolutely delicious. We were parked right next to the London Pride bar too. The facilities are excellent at Silverstone- so many urinals!

The racing was great and it was so nice to have the run of the track and view the racing from wherever you liked. It's a really good event with some fantastic cars and good close racing.

Well the Vettes got a big 24 on rear right, LM track sticker on rear left, PH smiley, and, well, it's a noisy Corvette. If it's parked up I'm either cooking sausages behind it, taking pictures nearby or in the bar
Noticed a couple of Vettes, but only spotted No.3 parked up next to "SOLID":

Unfortunately the photo of the Yellow No.3 didn't come out frown

No PH stickers but little TVR badge on chest, in Scarf and Goggles
biggrin Didn't see you either I'm afraid, thought of having a litle play with a small convoy of TVR's on the A45 on the way in on Sunday, but gave up as a bad idea because of traffic.

Agreed.

Although one other thing that annoyed us even more was the amout of people in respectable cars that thought they didn't have to que like everyone else mad

Some times a little too close ƒ¼ Two red Porches spun coming out of Bridge and hit the tyre wall right in front of us. Fortunately not too bad and both continued racing despite dropping a few places. And then there was the Group-C spill at the end of the pit straight which left what looked like bits of one car scattered all over the place (was too far away to identify any of it).
That Mazda Group C sounded fantastic. Pity he didn¡¦t finish either.

Don't mention the food... <Homer> MMMmmmm Chapati's  MMMmmm Steak Pasties  </Homer> biggrin

Cheers for the comments on the cobs, did make quite a sight, didnt help our parking area could at best be described as a swamp.
Agree with the Chapati van, right next to us...result along with the chinese, perfect.
Also agree with the frustration of getting in via Woodcote...WHY, on Friday they marshalled us in through the main entrance and stright over the bridge, why couldnt they do that for those of us displaying our passes on Sat/Sun, rather than wait behing some numptey who hasnt put his sticker in the windscreen and spends 5 mins fumbling around the car trying to find it, they had a big empty car park right next to the entrance why not just stick them in there until they found it then they could rejoin the que, lastly, I know its a rant, but how many times do you need to have pass and ticket checked to get into an event, on Sat I was checked at least 5 times !!!!!!just getting to our parking area. Brilliant weekend though.
