I fully agree. Being held up was annoying but nothing to stop you easing off and creating space. It was a novice day after all.
Well said, I did think about signing up for it myself but as a complete novice its making a arse of myself and holding others up that worries me.

As stated it was a taster session though so maybe I will get over to Bedford and pop my cherry.

Didnt realise that it was the first time for the 599 owner, fair play to him smile

His car sounded awesome.

Had a great day at the PH Sunday service. My first one in this country. (Done the one in Le Mans 2012)
Nice to see a great selection of cars.
Had fun out on the track in my mk2escort XPac in the first session, wondered if anyone got any vids of me.
Will defiantly be doing another Sunday service soon, and maybe another track day. But will need new brakes 1st.
Thanks to all the PH team and all the silverstone staff too.

I was impressed with the way your Escort was going on track, what's under the bonnet?.

Hi
Got a cosworth turbo in it.
It's good fun but not really a track car. The rear tyres are over 20 years old and standard rs2000 brakes without a servo don't really help get a fast lap. But I will get these bits sorted one day then the only thing stopping me get a fat lap will be the driver.

Cool ? Thanks for that.
I was still bolting a new turbo on Saturday evening and wanted to know what it sound like.
I think it sounds ok ( but I may be a bit biased )

Yea I didn't think it was the standard 110bhp four pot. I think I saw you fall off the end of the back straight at one stage(-:

Oh. I thought I had got away without anyone noticing my little off. I just wanted to have a look at a different bit of the track to everyone else. LOL.
I went down the straight flat out and when I hit the brakes they didn't really want to play. I went straight on rather than throwing it to the corner and spinning. I'm just glad I didn't go as far as the gravel trap. Would have hated it if I got stuck in the gravell and ruined everyone else's session.
Was you on track or spectating?

That's a lovely car mate sounds great too. Do you go to many of the PH meets. I would love to come and have a closer look at your scud. I think I'll be bringing my 10 year old son to the next meet and he ( like most ) loves ferraris.

Myself and a few mates go to most of the Midlands meets and sometimes a little further. Come and say hello!.

Oh you should have!! I had the same fears but they were totally unfounded. As a whole drivers were pretty well behaved and respected slower drivers/moved out of the way.

Nah sorry, you didn't quite get away with it, I was approaching that corner just as you'd re-joined the road ;-) Good to see the Escort being driven properly tho' smile

There was no hogging. My issue was with point 2, point 5, point 6 and especially 7. I was merely driving over the lap much quicker and at the point of the photo trying to overtake the Fiat. Yes he was quicker on the straights but that meant I had to hammer on the brakes in each braking zone and crawl around each bend at snail pace. It would have been better for both of us if it was made easier for me to pass so I could crack on and not be up his trumpet continuously and waving my hand lol. I did eventually get by and then lapped round to being behind him again, of which he correctly let me pass on the straight.

It did seem a little crowded on the track at some points, but guys I was over this before I even got out of my car. It was all good fun! Also I wish I was a better driver/ had a faster car as the focus RS and b5 S4 went flying past me smile
That'd be my RS I guess.... I trust you had no issues with my driving ;-)

As it was a novice day, none of us can be too upset really. It was my first time on track with the RS and while I had a whale of a time, it was clear a few folks out there were just learning and getting in the way a bit (ahem, the Minis!). Still in the main, I felt driving standards were higher than I expected, no one made contact with the barriers (that I noticed), so it was a good day. I hope PH can get similar events organised in the future.

Shhhhh
Don't tell anyone. We will keep this just between you, me the chap in the 430 scud and also the chap in the mx5 that I spoke to after our session who also saw me.
Nobody else need know. LOL.

I am sticking to my story about the brakes, that's why I went in to the pits for 5 mins to let them cool down.
It wasn't down to the driver running out of talent, honestly.

Meant to say that your 356 was looking nice on the track too. I just looked at your profile, are you building a can am,
I have promised myself that I will have an ultimate one day, not sure if I would build or buy one. What are they like to build.

I don't have my 356 any more (cry), I was driving the white (non-stickered) Focus RS. I'm almost finished with my Can Am build and have really enjoyed it. If you can put a Cossie motor in an Escort, you should be OK with building an Ultima smile
