Pageant Of Power Ups Ante With Third Day

Cholmondeley Pageant of Power will open on Friday this year, with 'Magnificent Marques' test drives as the star turn

The Cheshire-based Cholmondeley Pageant of Power is being extended in 2011. It will start on a Friday for the first time, and incorporate a new feature called 'Magnificent Marques', allowing sponsors to display vehicles and offer test drives on the Cholmondeley track and local roads.

The organisers of the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power probably won't thank us for describing it as the 'Festival of Speed of the north', but that's the best way to describe the rapidly expanding Cheshire celebration of all things motoring.

The latest wheeze from CPoP does smack a little of 'anything you can do, I can do better', however, as we can't help but be put in mind of the Festival of Speed's 'Moving Motor Show', which despite a few hiccups, was deemed a success in its inaugural outing last year.

Now in its third year, the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power hopes to draw a crowd of more than 75,000 over the weekend, its newly installed third day helping (hopefully) attendance figures to climb beyond last year's 50,000. That's still not quite up to the figures enjoyed by the FoS, but it's certainly a healthy number of people.

If you want to be one of them, make sure your diary's clear for 15-17 July.

I would say he hasn't stepped foot near the event, it was actually very good last year, it's a lot cheaper than a lot of events.....
So in conclusion, you are talking through your arse.....

Since when have PH'rs been so picky about motor themed padgents. I thought that we attended these events to see the cars and motoring celebs, not to wear them like a badge of social standing, if thats what you want perhaps a garden party at buck house would be more apropriate, or is it that it's oop north where neanderthols live?
Cholmondely (pronounced chumly) is in it's infancy but is growing very well, you get to see a wide range of events, historic, classic and modern motors that leave you drooling and loads of car related stalls. Don't talk it down just because it doesn't have the snob value (sorry "cache'") of Goodwood, that has had years to get it right ,and an excellent job they have done to, give Cholmondely some time, it will improve rapidly and one day it could be worthy of it's nick name of the Goodwood of the north.
Forget the social standing and see it for what it is and what it will become, a place to see a lot of brilliant motors where you can chat with like minded petroheads of all ages and backgrounds

Even the PH article appears to have a touch of "looking down my nose" to it. I sure hope it was not intentional but thats the way I read it. I hope this event is a great success and I am sure it will be well worth the visit. If I could go I would and would not dream of classing it as "second rate" whether I had been before or not. We could do with a few more shows like this.

That certainly wasn't the intention! We're rather excited about CPoP this year, and fully intend to send at least one of the office staff along (my hand is first up for that one) smile
