How many people got a talking to from the noise police then ?

I had matey track owner tell me at 15:30 that I was "F**cking it up for everyone else !" and that the day was meant for "normal road cars".

So, he wont be getting his Vulcan bomber out then !

Hang on a moment. If venom is going to be forthcoming, please aim it at the scum who been making complaints and the laws that allow them to complain.

The owner of the venue is merely trying to protect the place from having even more draconian noise restrictions put in place, which could ultimately result in VMAX style car runs being banned there altogether. It's not his fault that there are restrictions on car noise but not on aircraft noise during the day.

He was somewhat assertive to me, I can tell you. He made no attempt to explain anything regarding reasons etc other than use the words "You're f**king it up for everyone else". If anything, I'd say venow was directed at me on the day.

James told me that I had been pointed as one of the 'Loud' cars as well..(SL55), but It came right at the end of the day, so all the fun had been had (?)already.

Still, It was worth it as most peolpe really seemed to enjoy my glorious V8 soundtrack..it is like the God of Thunder gargling with rusty nails!!

Indeed it was at the end of the day so it did not really matter very much. But, you have to ask yourself about the next VMAX. What's going to happen then ?

maybe a cat bypass switch (i have one in my cayenne turbo) is the answer....then you can go from civilized to OH MY F--ING GOD!! at the push of a button...

A cat bypass switch ? On an Esprit ? This is a car that uses an upside down coat hanger to open and close the bonnet !!!

To be fair Adrian, despite it sounding glorious your car does have straight through pipes, something which you actually told the owner.

True, I did. I have to say I have no conception of what is considered loud on a dB scale and what is not. If you where to ask me the dB level of my car I'd have no idea at all.

I might be getting a bit upset because it may be loud but it's perfectly legal for the road ( passed it's MOT two weeks ago ) so why is it too loud for a track ? I'm only looking at it from a logical point of view, not a technical one.

Let me just clarify : As I was waiting to have my run ( at about 3ish ) the owner came over and said "you can't run in that, it's too loud, you'll f**k it up for everyone else". He did not actually tell me to f**k off. I did not know who he was ( but I suspected ) so I just said "well, ok then" and pulled over to the side. That was it really.

I know, that's *exactly* what I stated in my previous post.

Quick (perhaps naive) questions regarding noise limits.

Is there anything in the Highway Code governing road car noise limits? Similarly, can an otherwise roadworthy car with an ear bleed inducing exhaust system fail an MOT?

Assuming the answer to both is no?

If so, I find it strange that you can legally drive past their house squeezing 160db but a nimby holds power over if you're half a mile away separated by trees and fields and make 100db.

I looked into this when I fitted straight pipes on my Esprit. There's nothing in the highway code and the MOT regulations only say that the exhaust system needs to be complete, with no leaks ( major )and should be no louder that what would be expected for the type of car.

If you read my comments on the thread earlier I made the very same point. At the last VMax I was pulled off ( oo-er missus ) for being too noisey (it was at the end of the day) but my argument was that I only just passed my MOT about 2 weeks before so if my car is legal for the road, by passing the MOT, then how come it's not okay on a track ? I understand why but it does defy logic.
