Dear all,

You may have read about previous max speed runs & fun had on the 2 mile straight.

A few of us at work have booked Bruntingthorpe to go again and have some fun.

It is looking like we may have limited space available if any of you are interested in coming along.

The day is Sunday April 27th and will be from around 11am to around 4.30 pm, will probably involve around 6 maximum speed runs, these will be electronically recorded and also then displayed on electronic boards around 100m after the speed traps.

We currently have varying cars going from TVRs, Porsches, Ferrari's to a replica Cobra and a few other interesting cars.

The 2 mile straight is very wide and smooth & we will only be running 2 cars on the runway at any one time.

If you are interested please drop me an email, it should be good!

Hi andy& Melv, replied this morning, hope you got it. No helmets required.

Re costing, email me offline as we got a "special" price. cheers guys.

ps, Melv, I'm working on a papier mache diffuser this morning, this might help with the front end lift probs.

Lots more replies & cheques, thanks guys.

All looking good, a great spread of cars now, going to mix things up a bit and have different cars running against each other on each run, ie you will have a chance to settle old scores etc etc, (ha ha) and also to make it a bit more interesting.

The Ratburger van has happily confirmed attendance so we won't go hungry & I'm close to being able to give you a final cost, again, sorry its taken so long but I have had a lot of uncertainty on numbers which has meant the price changing - it should be around the £150 mark though(although I'm still bargaining to get a better rate - I am a broker after all).

ps. I've been told that a Jag XJ220 achieved just under 200mph on the straight and said car "may" be making an appearance. va va vooooooom!

pps. Just confirmed with the timing equipment guys. We will have electronic boards 100metres from the speedtraps so you will see the speed you've just recorded which should be good.

I've had a lot of people email me about this. I can only reiterate that common consensus (from people who have been)seems to be that its during the trackday part of the day that stonechips get thrown up.

We will be only running two cars at a time in tandem and very wide distance apart (those of you that have been know how wide the track is) I can't see us encountering any probs this way.

copy of email I just sent to the group:

Hi Gang,
Well, just over a week to go until we can V Max our respective exotica!

Circuit map and location doc attached..anyone who didnt get it PLEASE EMAIL ME

we can use the 'hospitality unit' off the perimeter track - upstairs viewing area / tables loos etc. Can run an organised queue from there. Will organise coffee, caterer can come in there as well.

All attendees please give your cars a once over this weekend, particularly those tyres - recommend a careful look for nails, cuts, dig out stones, check sidewalls carefully. Also check tyre pressures please.

I'd also advise checking all levels, oil, brakes & coolant(for the non aircooled people)

PLease remember that this is a private booking and the usual rules apply. You are responsible for your own safety & I accept no responsibility for any damage, injuries or loss.

Helemets are optional and all cars must be road legal.

We are aiming to kick off around 10.30 and carry on until about 4.30 or until we run out of petrol!

My sources tell me the local constabulary will be out in force so please take care getting to and from the airfield, believe me you'll have plenty of opportunity to push yourselves and your cars once we arrive!

Any questions???.....

ps:

B’thorpe location

Just to clarify for everybody -

Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground is located in the map square defined by

M1 J20/J21
A426
A5199 (old A50)
A4304 (old A427)

There are truck route signs to B'thorpe (Trading Estate) from the last two.
Foolproof way to get there is from the A5199 (nice road), take the truck
route turn off there, stay on this road (past the pub which looks like
favourite for lunch). Proving Ground is on a 90 right before the village
itself. Report to the gate.

Hi Carrie, yes fine to come and watch, all we're asking is that we might need a little help with sending people out in order so if you could do a stint that would be much appreciated. Please email me with your full name/car etc so I can mention to the guys on the gate.
