What is a M800 worth? I may know of one but the condition is unknown.

Emerald, DTA, Autronic, Pectel, to name but a few.

There are a lot of other very competent ecu's that are much cheaper then Motec ( although Pectel certainly aint cheaper )

Is there a reason it must be Motec, or is it just personal choice ?

I've been advised its nearer 1.5K for M800. for a new one Fitted & depending on options, set up & running about 3K, but thats just it I'm gonna be lucky

Pretty much all of the ecu's mentioned will do anything a n/a engine will ever need.

What does the Motec have to offer, that the others dont, that you see as essential for your car ?

If you want the best, then Pectel is probably the one to go for.

But I'd be farily confident in thinking that DTA or Emerald etc will make as much power as the Motec will, and leave you with plenty of change.

Good choice, not sure that the SM 4 is that much cheaper once it's installed

Ahh.. So you've got the chim with the Autronic, was talking to Mark Shead the other day about maybe putting an Autronic the chim (at a later date) and he said one had been done in Ireland

Yep that's me nearly got it sorted, just the final bit of sorting done (still need to get the amp fo rthe rev counter to run properly) seems so much move smooth and powerful.

I think the M600 is around £1500.

I bought the Motec M800, not cheap but when I priced up the Autronic hardware for my V12 with Mark (he did my cossie years ago) it was actually the same money.
Of cause I have my reasons for choosing the M800, sequential injection for 12 cylinders, coil per cylinder etc etc. But I have to agree that the M800 may be overkill for your application.

DTA's P8Pro can fire 8 inj sequentially, has decent map resolution for a n/a car, has 8 built in coil dirvers, TCS, closed loop fuel control, and more.
Ive been using it since 2002 and have no real complaints to make about it.

I would say that it might not be ideal for a blown engine running a lot of boost, as at that point, the map resolution wouldnt be great.

Its datalogging would be better if I could figure out how to plot graphs etc using Excel

I guess the one downside, is that better testing and diagnostics would be better. It would allow you to test various sensors and pickups to see if they are functioning, rather than having to actually start and drive and see if it doesnt work.

They do have a new ECU the S60 out now too, so perhaps its a lot better.

One thing in Motecs favour, is they build loom adaptors and they are very versatile. So you can pretty much just plug them into virtually any car and re-use the factory pickups.

Have a look at the Tec3 from Electromotive www.getfuelinjected.com/products/tec3.html looks worth investigating for your application. Comes with integrated high power ignition and it's pretty looking Seems to outperform the M800 on the drag strip in the states, very well reguarded over there but not well known yet here.

Well yes the motec is good, i personaly think its overpriced.

Are you keeping the standard inlet manifold or going for throttle bodies or a custom plenum.
