Not much major progress to report been home from work a while & on with the wiring & installing the new dash.

Also been doing some body work, fitting the radiator outlet duct ( I hate body work!)

Progress is slow, so my hope of having it finished this summer seem to have gone out of the window, the deadline will now ne next summerfrown

cheers

The flying lead kits they supply are quite good.

Although seems you've a bit of wiring still to do lol

The loom with the ECU was very good, no complaints. The rect of the car loom is now more or less sorted, just a few of the stack gauge looms to extend to reach the rear engine & to conect up the rear lights + the ECU to wire to the engine & then I can power up & see what works and what dosent....

cheers

How about using a 5 litre V12 BMW engine. For £5K you could buy the whole car, and quite a lot around. Dinan do an almost bolt on twin turbo that they want silly money for but the principal is there and that was pushing out 500bhp.

Added advantage of something really impressive to look at.
All well and good, but where are you going to put it?! A V12+ transaxle would be the length of a stratos...

What about a Volvo T6 from the S80? It's a transverse 2.9 straight 6 twin turbo in FWD format. Only 270hp as standard but plenty of scope for more. Not sure about manual boxes for it though, which I pressume is a must?

The engine was decided on many moons ago, as previously posted.

As always its behind schedule though.

Wiring is nearly complete for car, ECU & Engine, hopefully it will be tested at the weekend, but then i will be away at work for a couple of months, so no more work on th car until summer.....

A bump to the top from me smile Looking forward to May, or June when you get back and I can follow some more. bow
My current project is going to take some more years, but if I live long enough, I want one of these for my next project.
In the meantime, I'm keeping my eye on what goes on at Lister Bell.

I'm Still away at work, so no progress other than a shiny new LSD arrived at home today.

I know Craig from Lister bell and he is making an excellect quality product - Gelcoat finish is something not heard of before for a Stratos. If I was buying one now it would be the STR.....

It's torture when shiny stuff arrives and you're away isn't it.
I was away with work for a couple of weeks, and some yummy brake stuff for my current project arrived the day after I left.
It was nice when I got back though, as some of the Guys I work with gathered around for the "Grand opening" of the box. smile
Lots of Oooh's and Aaah'S and sharp intakes of breath!

I see you have your brake stuff sorted, but if you're ever looking again, I can recomend BG Developments.
They did this for me.

I'll be at least another 3 years on this project, but I'll be using them again on the next one. wink

Looking forward to your next posts.

Regards,
Mick.

Those calipers are just a work of art - and they make my calipers look pre-historic - mind you I am guessing that they weren't cheap!

1.2 kg and monoblock too. So should be very stiff.
No they weren't cheap, but I'll enjoy them long after I've forgotten the price. wink

AP do a nice 6 pot Radi-Cal that would be nice on a stratos. here
http://www.apracing.com/calipers/products.asp?prod...

The only problem with them is being a race caliper, there are no pads for them with a suitable road compound, so you need to get a donor pad waterjet cut to suit.
I had two sets cut for mine while they where at it.

Sorry to take your thread off topic. I'll bugger off now and look forward to following you progress.

Regards,
Mick. smile

OK Time to do some more on the car.
The car is actually away at OJZ again, to have boost pipes & inlet runners fabricated + a couple of extra bosses welded into the exhaust.

So while the car is away I have started to work on the gearbox. I have a few used alfa 164 5 Speed boxes, but managed to source an unused one, so that is the one that I will be using. It will be fitted with the integrale strengtening plate and an LSD (plate type) from AHM.

Box is dismantled & the casing away with a mate for machining to allow the plate to be fitted.
